We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Adela's house was spotless, the room was very comfortable and Adela was a friendly attentive host. The breakfast provided was delicious and imaginative. All in all a great stay in a lovely place.

Peaceful location with amazing views…..our room (Room 2) was spotless, beautiful bedding and very comfortable. Our host, Adela, was friendly, generous and provided a gorgeous continental breakfast - the best I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this B & B.

From start to finish our stay  in this Guest House was fantastic. Not only are the views amazing we had the most wonderful friendly welcome from the host. Our room was fab. Comfy bed, fridge, TV, safe, armchairs. The whole place is immaculate with lovely decor and fab art pieces displayed throughout. Breakfast was great. Lovely selection of fresh fruit,  breads, croissants etc. I would highly recommend a stay here.

This is my second time staying at Shearwater Country House. In short, I love it!  I've referred several family members and friends there, and they all loved it as well.
 Adela, the owner, is completely delightful and welcoming.  Seeing her after my last stay, 14 years ago (when my sister and I were taking our Mother's ashes to Drombeg Stone Circle), Adela greeted me like an old  friend. 
 This place is sparkingly clean, for starters. The views from the rooms and the self-catering apartment are fantastic. Seeing the beautiful bay of Glandor and green hills beyond never gets old. 
 The continental breakfast is extensive and delicious.  A great way to start any day, especially prior to going out to explore the wonderful sites on day trips. 
 The bedding is very comfortable and we slept like babies. The Wi-Fi is great. The town of Union Hall is charming. There's a shop/grocery store for essentials and snacks (as well as a decent selection of wine and beer!) There are a couple good restaurants in the village, and more across the bay in Glandore village, just a few kilometers away. (We ate one of the best seafood meals of our lives at Hayes Bar in Glandore!)
 Adela is helpful in suggesting interesting places to go and see in the area. 
 We were there for 5 nights, and seriously, I was heartsick to leave. I love Ireland and Shearwater Guest House so much. It was my husband's first time to Ireland.  We're already making plans to go back in the next year or two, and will stay longer at Shearwater next time.
 

Wonderful, everything we wanted and more.

Clean, bright, cosy and ideal for walking into town or down to the Harbour. 

The breakfast was fresh and tasty too. 

Highly recommend the night kayak tour only 10mins drive away with Atlantic Sea Kayaking.

Having stayed in and previously reviewed Shearwater we were delighted to note that the exceptional standards we have come to expect are well maintained. Adela is a marvelous host with a wealth of knowledge on the local area. The beds are very comfortable in rooms that have stunning views of the harbour. The house is spotlessly clean. The breakfast is very tasty and sufficient enough to set you up for a morning. Shearwater and Union Hall is a great base from which to explore the wider west Cork area.

The attention to detail is amazing!  The room we stayed in was beautiful, spotlessly, clean and beautifully decorated.

Just spent 3 nights with friends at this lovely- spotlessly clean B and B. The rooms are very cosy and the beds are extremely comfortable- we slept like babies! Adela is a wonderful host- friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is superb- lots of choices and very generous portions.  The terrace is a great space where we were able to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine and watch the boats in the harbour. The accommodation is only a stroll from union hall with 2 great bar/ restaurants and well positioned to enjoy the other pleasures of West Cork. We had a great time and hope to return sometime soon.

Like a previous stay here the welcome was warm and friendly by three generations of the family, including the baby grandson. Shearwater is very comfortable and clean with great bed and pillows. The views over the harbour are stunning from the bedrooms and breakfast room.  The breakfast is cooked to order  and very tasty, with Adela being attentive and informative about places to go. It is a short walk to the village, but be very aware early bookings are essential in the only two food options available in Union Hall.

We have just come down to earth after a one week stay in fabulous Union Hall in Shearwater Studio. It was so comfortable and had everything we needed for a week’s holiday in West Cork. The view from the studio ensures you totally switch off! Adela ensures everything is top notch and makes you feel most welcome at all times. There is so much to do around Union Hall on foot or by bike so no need to be driving for miles and miles. We are planning to go back to Shearwater Country House again later in the year and can’t wait. We highly recommend a stay here it’s just fabulous!

Stayed here with my sisters for 2 nights while doing some sightseeing and catching up with family in the area. Adela was a great host and really felt welcome and comfortable and she couldn’t do enough for us.The rooms are beautiful with amazing views and absolutely spotless. Breakfast was lovely and kept us going for the day. Had dinner in Dintys the first night and it was really good, would recommend and had dinner in the dock wall the second night and it was also really good and would recommend but you must book. It also helped we were lucky with the weather

Wonderful stay, couldn’t ask for more

We felt really at home in our lovely room with its big comfortable bed and magnificent view of the harbour where the fishing boats came and went all the time. Union Hall is an authentic fishing village where everyone is friendly and welcoming.  Everything was spotless and our hostess, Adela, couldn't do enough for us.  
Breakfast was delicious, and it was lovely to sit out on her veranda and watch the boats, read a book or have a snack.

What a view to wake up to!

Spotlessly clean studio with spectacular sea view. Comfy bed, crisp white linens, good shower and cotton towels. Breakfast was the best we have had in a long time and we travel a lot. All quality ingredients, excellently cooked full Irish (there was also scrambled egg with smoked salmon and pancakes but we had the full Irish both mornings), great coffee, selection of fresh fruit all served in a sunroom overlooking the bay. We were so impressed we tried to book again but there was no availability for the weekend we were looking at. We will definitely be back. The lady of the house clearly knows how to run a superb guesthouse and is really helpful and friendly.

We will be back! Loved our stay.

Host Adela has a warm welcome that set a positive tone for our stay in this lovely B&B that is clean and comfortable with stunning views over the harbour. A short walk from the village it is a great location from which to travel the wider area of West Cork. The room has a large comfortable bed and an ensuite that is well appointed.  The breakfast is cooked to order and very tasty, the pancakes being a particular favourite. A word of warning. restaurant options in Unionhall are very limited so book well in advance
