Lovely place with great lagoon views and nice owner. We stayed for 4 nights. The rooms are spacious, very clean and make for a great base to explore the island from. Olga picked us up at the airport and dropped us off (for free). We were leaving in the evening and we essentially checked out at 5.30pm. I had to work a little while in Rangiroa and basically made an office out of Olga's porch - she even let me use her phone as I didn't have any reception on my cell. Did I mention that we were traveling with a two year old and a seven month old? They loved the place and Olga even took our older one swimming to help out when we were packing up. All in all a great experience and I would stay here again.

I have been in this place for 3 nights... it's a lovely place, the owner Olga is a wonderful lady, easy going, she can help you booking your dive and excursion. You can hire a bike, then cycling the beach (3km), or swim on the private "beach", but you have to know that Rangiroa is not a beach destination but a diving one!
There is a fisherman front of the hostel, so you can buy some fresh fish and cook it in the shared kitchen of the dormitory or your private room... Otherwise, Olga got some dogs, they are friendly, but if you're not keen of dogs that will be quiet complicated.

This is my third visit to "Chez Olga". I had booked a dormitory bed and on arrival I was pleased to see the dormitory area had been renovated and turned into private rooms, each with one double and one single bed in it. My room was bright and airy and right on the lagoon. I had a shared bathroom that was always very clean and had the use of a communal kitchen area and fridge which were clean and enjoyed lagoon views.

There is a new sun deck over the shore of the lagoon which was very pleasant to sit on in the evenings to enjoy the sunset while reading or emailing home with the free wifi. There is a small beach with easy access to the lagoon which is very pleasant to cool down in between dives or before dinner.

The pension is very conveniently located near Restaurant Vaimario, which does excellent pizzas, snack bar Rio, which did great burgers and other lunch dishes as well as two upmarket resorts which have nice restaurants if you feel like splashing out. There is also a supermarket nearby but it is quite run down, 

All in all, this was my best stay at Chez Olgas yet. The new single rooms and the sundeck really make for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Fantastic value right on the lagoon

Great place

Nice place with a n ice owner!

First, the positives. The bungalow is of good size. Clean. Nice deck. The lagoon is right there in your yard, and the snorkeling is not bad at all. There is a store and some restaurants nearby. A bicycle rental from Olga (1000/day or 500/half day) can get you to town and around the entire motu...

However, our experience was poor overall. Olga picked us up from the airport and after dropping us off said she was going away for several days and we would be in the care of the neighbor.

The pension is not the family's only business. Every single day we were there, the men of the house did some kind of work unfortunately right next to the bungalow. One day, their small ferry boat was being taken in and out with loud racket, with trucks, etc. Another day they were using some very strong chemicals. The day after that, the man was dredging with heavy machinery right next to the bungalow. So it does not feel like a pension, more like a shipyard.

Then there were the dogs. Any time you leave the premises and return, the dogs bark and growl again because they are too stupid to remember who you are. They growl and bark when you walk to the house, to check email (but their router is broken and hardly ever worked anyway...). The dog problem was awful, there was no one there to tell them to back off. I was afraid to come and go from the bungalow. And there was poop all over the beach...

One day a large group of local teens were swimming on the private beach and it felt like a public beach.

The bungalow itself was alright, but does have a very poorly equipped kitchen. There was no trash bin inside. There was one spoon. One pot with no lid. That sort of thing.We appreciated the location and big rooms, but did not have a relaxing experience.

Stayed here for 3 nights. It's ok but I reckon there will be lots of other choices at this price level. The owners picked us up and dropped us back at the airport which was great but that's pretty much all we saw of them. I tried to find them a couple of times but gave up. 

Rooms (ours was a bungalow) were basic and lacked any real kit for self catering, e.g. Cooking utensils etc. It did have a fridge though which helped. I know Rangiroa is hot but the floor standing fan just wasn't up to the job. The foam mattress just added to the oppressive heat meaning sleeping was hard. The mosquito net looked a bit damaged so I was glad we took our own. In fairness the mosquitos weren't too bad here.

I liked the location half way along the island and all the local restaurants (Maitai, Raira Lagon, Obelyx etc) were good and in walking distance. The roug coral beach and deck area were really nice too with a reasonable bit of coral to snorkel around.

There weren't enough (free) bikes to go around and one with a puncture just didn't get fixed. 

Wifi up on the deck by the sea was good enough and the deck area was a nice touch.

Would I stay there again? I think at that price I'd try one of the other options. However I'd probably increase my budget for one of the better options that looked pretty good.
