Copenhagen Strand Hotel

We have just returned from a lovely 3 night break in Copenhagen. The Strand Hotel is in a brilliant location, just around the corner from historic Nyhavn and easy to reach via the metro from the airport. Take the yellow M2 line and get off at Kongens Nytorv which is 8 stops down. It is then an easy walk of about 8 minutes to the hotel although it can be tricky to drag your suitcase over the cobbles in some places! We were greeted warmly by Gustav on reception who looked after us so well during our stay with great suggestions and local knowledge. Special mention must also go to the two lovely ladies who greeted us at breakfast every morning. We had a twin room which although immaculately clean was on the small side with a low set window overlooking an office. It was very simply furnished and we did feel it could perhaps do with some artwork to enhance the room and some higher quality curtains. Ours was thin and beige and had a bit of an Ikea feel to it! We also suffered with a wet floor in the bathroom from the shower but the shower itself was powerful and hot and the whole bathroom was spotlessly clean. The beds were really comfortable with good mattresses and bed linen. The room was also easy to keep warm and we were comfortable throughout our stay. Our floor was also really quiet, we did wonder at times if we were the only guests on it as we never heard anyone but judging by the amount of people at breakfast I think the sound proofing is very good which is a definite plus. The breakfast was of a really high standard. Plentiful choices of fresh, high quality, home made food. One of the best hotel breakfasts that I have ever had - highly recommended. It seemed a shame that the hotel doesn't offer any other meals other than breakfast - because we would gladly have eaten our dinner there rather than going back out into a cold evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Strand and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
