Viennahotel Shanghai Songjiang Development Zone

While my stay at this hotel was only 1 week, I was impressed as soon as I laid down on the bed. For a chinese based hotel chain, the beds are very comfortable. Not too soft, definitely not too hard, just right. The shower and bathroom was very clean with minimal damage to the room in general. Breakfast was the normal Chinese breakfast, they did have pastry's but some type of jam would have been great. Criticism's I have was none of the staff spoke any english, this presented a problem when asking for directions to a train station, needed to use the translation app on the phone and the first day the air conditioner would not work. After waiting for about 2 hours, I decided to do some investigating and found that there was a power point that had been shorted, I switch this point off and on a few times and the AC work like it should. The other thing that bothered me was no one took notice of the no smoking policy. In the lobby they have large signs and there are people smoking at the reception desk. One of the days, I came back to my room only to find it was badly smelling of smoke, why have a non-smoking floor and not enforce the policy, it doesn't make sense to me. Overall a good hotel, however there is not much around for a western person to eat. The thing I found funny is the name of the hotel, Vienna, I was thinking Beethoven and opera, nope - all the pictures in the room were based around Venice. Close, same continent anyway.
