Cabañas Akitespero

I used to go camping here every summer during my early teens. I can tell you that although a lot of things have changed and grown; the magic and simplicity of this town remains as I've always remembered it. Guanaqueros is a small fishing town within 30min of Coquimbo and La Serena (5hr drive from Santiago); it's major advantage is a large beach that due to its location and geography, mimics a natural pool with small shorebreak which is great for all ages. If you like a calm atmosphere mixed with fresh seafood, fresh markets, bread and the sound of waves breaking on the shore, it most definitely end up on your bucket list when visiting Chile. Decided to come for a weekend with the folks and instead of packing the car with camping gear we booked our stay here: AKITESPERO The units are well equipped, furnished and attached to a central, small but cozy reception with a dining room/ kitchen. Patricio is the owner, he has extensive experience in the hotel and restaurant businesses; and he's a great host ready to make you feel at home. We stayed at the 5-6 person 2nd floor unit, which is equipped with kitchen, fridge, microwave, sink and range. Two bunk beds and a queen size bed with a closet, bathroom with shower, cable/wifi equipped. The others are four smaller units for couples. Patricio offers the choice of apartment mode or hostal mode; this means you can use his kitchen to cook and he does the cleaning. There's fresh bread every morning within a short walk, fresh fish, or walk down to the "patio de comida" if you don't feel like cooking and just enjoy seafood empanadas or fresh ceviche... A fresh market comes twice a week a couple streets behind the cabañas. Enjoy an asado right on the patio and just look up to the sky at night, guanaqueros is still a dream. Muchas gracias Patricio!!
