If you want some generic hotel that gives you a westernized experience of an eastern country, go elsewhere. For me and my wife, we don't like that. Hotel Shpella is run by a lovely albanian couple that will take care of you and make you feel at home. They are great, friendly hosts and will have breakfast prepared for you each morning at the time of your choosing (and no, they don't expect you to pay like normal chain hotels). When we first arrived we had been given the wrong room, as we had booked a room with a balcony and were given one without one. They ensured the situation was handled immediately and made sure we got a room with a balcony just as we had asked for. I would absolutely recommend this place to those wanting a unique hotel experience when traveling to Berat. Great couple, great service, great price.
