We went to Wayne for a college visit and knew we would be getting there late.   I checked on the internet as I like to support small businesses and found this motel.  It is locally owned and operated.   I called and made my reservation and was treated very nicely.   We were running late so I called to let them know and was told no problem.  
We got there and were checked in quickly.   The room was clean and well stocked with towels.  I believe they are in the process of updating the rooms.  My main takeaway is the room was clean, warm and there is no way you could beat the price.   Nice hot water for showers, coffe and rolls for breakfast, easy fast checkout.   Will definitely stay again as the college made the top three list!

Small town charm at a great price

I reserved a room with outside door and the week I came I was early. Was told that they were booked and no outside door. Not what I was told on phone reservations.  They should have got me the room as I was very early.  2nd air conditioner had to be set on 64 to get to at least 72.   3rd tv remote control did not work. 4th check several times for breakfast and coffee but I gave up At 7:45 am. Went to McDonald’s across the street.   Do not think I will go there again. Was very disappointed.

Disappointing

I had an appt. in a neighboring city and after reading the reviews decided to try this place out. I wont say its outdated just that it has a 70's feel to it with actual room keys and books of matches in a wicker basket at the front desk. Ok, maybe outdated but what's there is very clean. Staff was very friendly, very reasonable rates, walking distance to resturants. It's not the Hyatt or Hilton but...for the price and time I actually spent in my room, it worked just fine for me.

It worked for me...

Assigned to work a nearby Wind Farm.   700 plus miles away from wife and family.  Trying to budget.  Was willing to take risk.  Sports Club Motel is an older motel but the rooms are maintained extremely well. The Housekeeping Staff cleans and cares for my room daily.  The Management is a well rounded, humorous, people person and she allows  pets!  The water pressure in shower is wonderful, the beds are comfortable, and they provide 3 different styles of pillows to accommodate your comfort level.  Not Upper Class or Fancy, but clean, quiet, well maintained and cozy!

Money Saver

Traveling thru Nebraska, I got stuck in a small town during heavy spring rains. This weather front closed down the highways out, washed out roads and flooded towns. I had to find a place to sleep. I Googled motels and this one had best ratings.....It was clean, quiet and the staff was friendly. I stayed for two nights and got a lot of rest! Will definitely go again If opportunity comes up.

American Owned and Quiet!

Quiet and Clean......Restaurants all around.. Great Prices...Flat Screen TVs...Ice Machine... Microwave, Refrigerator and lots of towels, AC, Snacks. My go to for when passing thru for business. Support the small business owner! 

Locally Owned Motel

Would go there again  Nice room.  Close to places to eat and shop.      Could sit in front and watch traffic go by.Clean room   comfortable bed.   Nice shower.   Not to much for a breakfast.   Just coffee and rolls.   Otherwise, enjoyed my stay.

My family and I stayed at the motel while going on a college tour for my son at Wayne State College. The stay was really nice, Troy and Tony were excellent host. They made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. They went out of their way to supply our needs. I would 10/10 recommend staying in this wonderful motel. Lastly the owners were very kind and considerate as they were aware of the horrible things we experienced at Super 8 across the street.

Excellent stay

Why do I stay at Sports Club every time I'm in Wayne?  Certainly not for lack of money.  I find the staff kind and helpful.  Even had one of the staff run me down because I forgot my phone charger in room.  It has always been clean and fresh when I have stayed the numerous times there.  There are cosmetic things that the staff has been in the process of fixing, and that is normal for the age of the property.  I was certainly delighted with their deep clean the last trip I was there at the beginning of March 2017.  Keep up the good work!  I'll be back soon.

Second home

I'll begin with the positives.  The room was clean enough.  Certainly not spotless (spots on the wall, discolored shower curtain, stuff like that), but it was acceptably clean.  The bedding appeared to be clean as well, you could tell it was a bit old but the sheets and everything were fine.  Also, the staff seemed like genuinely nice people and gave you that cozy, small town feel.  They also had wifi that worked and was easy to use, it was slow, but it was certainly better than no wifi at all.
Unfortunately, that's it.
Now the negatives:
First, I was booked a smoking room.  Now this is obviously more an error of the people who booked the room for me, but I honestly didn't know smoking rooms were still an option.  Either way the room absolutely stank.  Every time I entered my room I was greeted with a wall of smoke smell upon crossing the threshold; not the first impression I was hoping for.  On the not so bad side it didn't seem like the bedding smelled like smoke.
The entire building also felt extremely dated.  I could actually feel when the unit next to me opened and closed the door to their room and sat down on the bed because the walls were so thin.  The motel uses actual keys as opposed to the key cards modern travelers have come to expect.  Each room has a deadbolt, but I still had to decide whether or not to leave my valuables in my room when I would leave for business each day; just not the most security-inspiring feature.

In summary, would I stay there again?  No, not by choice at least.  If I was stuck in Wayne and the Sports Club Motel was the only place with a vacancy... and it was too cold to sleep in my car, then yes I would stay there again.
