The Alpine Lodge looks charming and vintage from its photos online, but in real life it is dingy, old, smelled bad, and looks as though there hasn't been any renovations since the 1980's. 

My bus was late arriving to town, (I arrived at 3 AM) and incidentally there was a forrest fire nearby that caused a power outage all over town. When I got to the hotel, the owner (I think Andy), whose English was difficult to understand, insisted that I pay with cash because his credit card machine was not working due to not having electricity (why didn't he have a mobile app to take cards?). When I told him I didn't have any cash but could find an ATM first thing the next morning, he said "no cash, no room" despite it being 3 AM and obviously a tough situation. My taxi driver was kind enough to pay my hotel fee in cash so that I could have a place to stay for the night. 

Overall, my rate was $166, but this hotel is worth $25 a night at best. There are plenty of other, nicer places to stay in town at the same price. I wouldn't waste my money staying here again.

I would not stay here again!

This is a older vintage type motel. Our room was smallish but adequate. It seems like this is a motel used by skiers.  The room was clean. There is a restaurant/pub attached to the motel which because of Covid we did not visit, but it looked interesting and updated.

During the summer of 2019, I made a reservation with Andy S. for Room 20 (queen size bed) for $79.00.  I made this reservation over the phone, and admittedly had no proof of the reservation (I have been staying at this property for several years over Labor Day Weekend).  My arrival was to be 9/1/2019.  When I arrived, Andy S. told me that I had no reservation, and that the room was $159.00.  When I protested, Andy S. told me that this was the "time of the year when they make their money," and insisted that I had no reservation.  As the town was full, I took the room for $159.00.  The next morning, I vented my frustration to Andy S. and his wife.  Andy S. knocked $25.00 off the rate, so that I wound up paying $134.00 for my $79.00 room.  He even refused to shake my hand when I left the front office.  I think that there is something wrong with this person, and, until he is replaced, avoid this place.

Senile Innkeeper should be avoided

Giving them one star because they held a room for us after we were stuck in traffic for 6 hours 

We arrived after midnight after being stuck behind an accident in blizzard conditions for 6 and a half hours.

We arrived to find the parking lot covered in about 8 inches of snow.  As I trudged through the calf-deep snow, I nearly slipped on the stairs up to the office (none of the stairs had been cleared of snow).  We did not even bother to take a suitcase out of the car, so we would not have to carry it across the snow-covered parking lot.

We asked about the breakfast advertised here and were told that there was only coffee in the room.

We went up the snow-choked steps to our room, and discovered the heat was not working.  We were so tired that we just crawled into bed and tried to sleep.  The people upstairs chose then to clomp and take a shower, which we were clearly able to hear, making it difficult to fall asleep.

In the morning I went to fetch and warm up our car while my wife got ready.  She discovered that the shower curtain was an actual curtain (cloth curtain, no liner).

Again, he kept a room for us on a night where I-5 was heavily restricted.  The room was clean, though cold.  There was coffee in the room.  These are the only things to recommend this property.  My expectations were low going in, and this property failed to achieve even that. 

When its “any port in a storm” it was a port.

Well, everything else was booked.  A long hair graced the toilet upon entry.  The door to the adjoining room wouldn't lock to secure "my side."  My neighbors were loud and smoked weed all night.  Staff on hand were very nice.  Good location.

A bit tacky

Terrible place. Got gauged on Labor Day weekend and paid $159. Stepped into the bathroom where the toilet had not been flushed. I guess from the people that checked out the room before and escaped. Everything is outdated and run down. AC is broken, stale smell in the room, noise from the street. Only good thing is that the bed seems clean. STAY AWAY !!!!

This place is a dump

Fire price gauger. Gross room broken beds 1 little window ac unit. Just find a different hotel. Pooh stains in the dresser. Holes in the curtains.  The mattresses are not just gross they are the worst. Just keep driving. Unless you hate yourself, or if you are a horrible person, then by all means book a room.

Traveling on our California road trip,  we were running out of day,  but not 'po dunk' towns.  We drove 56 miles out of our way,  as Mt. Shasta was the biggest town around.  'It's a ski town,  there should be plenty acceptible accommodations,  right? '...no, nope, wrong.  This town was just a larger than your average 'po dunk' town.  The Best Western was booked due to Labor day,  and all the firemen staying to fight the fires (bad fire season,  they were everywhere! ). We drove down 'the strip' and everything 'decent looking' was booked.  We came here only out of desperation.  Got the last room......at $178! OUCH THAT HURT! - Especially since this room should NEVER go for more than $79! One deflated pillow each, window rattler AC in the bathroom.  Cigarette burns in the dated comforter, very hard bed. Undesirable decor all around.  No care put into even keeping this place updated.   Yup,  your average dated, unkempt motel capitalizing on a busy weekend.  Enjoy it Alpine Lodge,  your janky hotel,  and po dunk town will never,  EVER see me or my money again.  

DO NOT STAY OVERNIGHT HERE.  IT'S NOT WORTH IT! Skip this horrendous town all together and go a few hours more to Tahoe if you want to ski.

Old hotel.  Got gauged due  to holiday weekend. 

Glad I'm only here for one night.  The room is dingy with a broken chair and mold in the bathroom.  It was a bargain price until the extra charge for my pet was added on (I wasn't told about that even though I mentioned that I had a pet).  I could have stayed at the Best Western for the same price!

Skip This One!

We booked in on September 14 at about 5pm. They had our reservations ready to go. The rooms are clean as they can be and smell fresh. Beds are so very comfortable like sleeping on a cloud. Each room has a queen bed unless you get a double bed room which 2 queen beds. The bathrooms are clean and smell very clean. We stayed for 7 days to do some sightseeing. The hotel is in the prime location you can see the famous MT. Shasta from our room. Stores such as resturants, gift shops, healing shop all within walking distance also. House keeping is fantastic, Ron and his family, we loved them he is a very friendly and a hard working man. Ron is 80 years and he works like he's 20. Congratulations guys you guys know what you're doing. if we ever come back to Mt Shasta we will be staying at the Alpine Lodge!!!
