Room was nice, beds were comfortable, pool on the small side but refreshing. Staff were professional and friendly. The breakfast buffet had many hot and cold options and the food was tasty. Location convenient for I-35E access, under flight path for Love Field but good sound insulation in room. A few choices for restaurants nearby but not really close to anything else. I would stay again if passing through Dallas.

Good stopover

When the cab first pulled into the parking lot I was like "oh no, someone messed up!" The hotel is in a sketchy part of town tucked between several strip clubs and hip hop club. I was doing a training class and the person who booked the hotel apparently had no knowledge of this area of Dallas. The hotel is an old Hampton Inn that has been converted to a "so called" private boutique hotel. Although the URL still shows Hampton Inn; there is no association. First I will share the good. The rooms were clean and recently remodeled. The workout room has new equipment and the business center is small with two stations and a printer but is decent. The staff is friendly and quite helpful. Each morning there is a free breakfast beginning at 6:00 am that ranges from eggs, sausage or patties, waffles, danish, bagels, cereal, etc. The coffee is actually quite good. In the evening from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm there is a happy hour, which includes beer, wine and various snacks and hors d'oeuvres that you can actual make your meal. The only places near that you can walk include a Denny's, Burger King or Shell Gas Station. I would highly recommend you not go out after dark, there are hookers galore and random people that look to be up to no good. I witnessed a well dressed Japanese gentleman stumble out of the elevator with a scantly clad women and head to one of the rooms one night. The elevators and halls smell horrible almost like gasoline. The area the hotel is located is near a number of roads and it is fairly noisy. There is HBO on the TV and a decent range of channels. This hotel is primarily where truckers and construction workers stay judging from the number of work trucks parked in the lot. This is no place for a business meeting. There is free WiFi, but no password is even required.

I had actually stayed at this place once before and it wasn't horrible. It was also pretty cheap. It's in an area of town that has a reputation for being shady, but knowing that reputation is a bit exaggerated I didn't have a problem staying there. This time around it was in a convenient place for why I was in town, so I thought I'd save a couple of dollars and stay here.

First, the guy running it was a little grouchy. I said I needed one for the night and he growled, "Fifty-five dollars!" I handed him my credit card and was digging in my wallet for my drivers license when he blurted, "I need ID!" I told him I was working on it. I kind of let all that go because... Well, we all have bad days, right?

Then he starts going on about five dollars. I never understood what he was wanting five dollars cash for, I think maybe a key deposit, but he made it obvious he wasn't moving until I gave him a five dollar bill.

Anyway, he finally gets all that run and gives me the key card and I went to the room. The room seemed smaller than it was the last time, but I have to say the bathroom was the biggest bathroom I have ever seen in a motel. Bigger than the one I have at home. It seems I remember seeing a "Newly Remodeled" banner out front, and apparently the remodeling was making the rooms smaller and the bathroom bigger. Then I noticed... no towels. Great. I came back out to the main part of the room, and there are the towels flung on this big desk under the TV. Okay, whatever. Hey, nice big, new flat screen TV. I look for the remote... No remote. I turn on the TV manually, and get a blue screen. No channels picking up.

I don't have time to mess with it, and considering the mood he was in I doubt it would have done much good. I had somewhere to be. As I was leaving what appeared to be a crack convention was taking place outside my door. Luckily I never unloaded anything, and when I was done with what I had come to do I simply wrote off the $60 and made the long drive home in the middle of the night rather than return to that sad place. As luck would have it, I decided to stop at Winstar Casino on the home and won $450, so it was covered.
