The Chessington

Had a wonderful weekend at the chessington, room was excellent, very clean and a fantastic view. The owners were absolutely brilliant with my 2 children and my 3 year old is even wanting to go back to see " the nice lady"  highly recommended!! 

Stayed at my favourite Scarborough hotel for another short 3-day break and, as usual, was not disappointed - friendly owners and staff (and friends), comfy room and usual excellent freshly cooked breakfast to start the day. Look forward to coming back next year for a few more short breaks.

The Chessington is a family-run B&B in an Edwardian hotel. We had a room at the top with great views of The Crescent and of South Bay beyond it.

The location really can't be beaten - it's about halfway between the railway station and South Bay, making access to both the town and the seafront about as great as it can get.

There are no mod cons here (note: no lift) but a full cooked breakfast is included and this is a nice touch. There's also a lounge and a bar. All guests are given a key to the front door, which meant we had no concerns about staying out quite late on Saturday night and returning to the hotel.

Next time I come to Scarborough I'll definitely stay at the Chessington again!

Another Pleasant Stay

Arrived in Scarborough by train and only a short walk to the hotel, front of the hotel is situated on a quite looking street with a small park area infront. Outside seating available. 
Made to feel very welcome on arrival, given a family room at the very top of the hotel, overlooking the back of the shopping centre. 
Room tired and dated but clean and tidy.  I liked that the double bed was a few steps up from the single bed given a family a bit of separation. The third bed was just a pull out which reduced the size of the room quite considerably. Maybe bunk beds could have used the space better.
I wasnt a fan of the shower but bathroom was clean and tidy.
Only a short walk away to restaurants, town centre and the beach. 
Room a little light from street lights , and became very light once sun came up, curtain very light and not blackout, a bit of noise apparent from outside bars and traffic passing.
Comfortable night sleep, for all although my daughter got stuck underneath the single bed while sleeping on pull out bed, which she found very funny.
Breakfast served in the lower ground floor, breakfast room. Cereal etc available and cooked breakfast to order. Prompt fast friendly service, no complaints at all. 
Bar area available with games and a place to sit. 
Parking could be troublesome but not one we had.

town centre location, but not far from the beach

Just had a 3 night stay good location but parking can be a problem but managed to find a spot, our room had a fantastic view second floor, the room itself was a bit tired the curtains came off the rails so had to faff about with them room size was not the biggest space but adequate the bathroom could do with a touch of maintenance a hole around the toilet down pipe towels need replacing , the kettle could do with it's own plugging point so not having to pull the drawers out to change plugs or put it on the floor, again just a minor thing but niggly, the breakfast is ok with the usual on offer not massive portions but again adequate. We paid £70 a night b n b , which imho is not great value for money we paid less last year for a far superior place, but did not get the view , our friends paid the same and did not get the view so pot luck I suppose, so hence the title average but would not take much to bring it up to scratch.
