The Maiden Motel

I've always used the maiden for cheap rooms and easy access to town. It wasn't the best of places but it suited me. I never left a review before because I keep using the place and it wouldn't have been a good one. It's now under new management and had a huge change to the place, all the rooms have had full makeovers with quite a bit spent on them by the looks of it. New beds, tv's and kettles etc. It's very clean and all the maintenance problems it had before have all been fixed. The food they serve is very very good, the Sunday lunch is fantastic and the new manager and staff are great. I can't fault the place anymore. I wouldn't before but I definitely would now recommend the maiden as a place to stay. The prices are the same so it's now great value and not pay for what you get. I look forward to many more stays, hopefully it will stay like this from now on, having met the new manager Paul I'm sure it will. 👍🏻

Nice clean rooms , all brand new beds and nicely decorated  recently . Great location  and fab value .  The staff were friendly and very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble.  I would recommend  this B&B  !!

So much better than the previous  stays I've  had. 

Pleasantly surprised

We booked a twin room 6 months in advance for one night as we were coming to Newcastle for the Rugby World Cup.

Less than 24 hours before we were due to set off, we were informed by automated text that our booking was cancelled. After contacting the Maiden Motel, it appears the room had been double booked. No recompense was offered.

With no other option, we rebooked at a nearby hotel which was hugely expensive, given the city was nearly booked out by now for the world cup.

Terrible terrible service.

Not to be trusted!

My son, partner, myself and best friend booked here as it was near to town and cheap,  but did not read the reviews before hand which i wish i had.
1-- we had to pay cash no cards taken (bit dodgy I thought)
2-- we were not shown to our room, just told it was round the back and up the stairs,
     we had to climb over a moutain bike to get into the hall way.
3-- No tea, coffee or milk in room though there was a kettle and mugs. My son and
     his partner had empty sugar bags in their room.
4-- No where to hang shower so had to try and balance washing hair etc. and hold 
     onto shower head without slipping over as not bath mat in shower.
5--We had to sleep ontop of quilt as mattress was so uncomfortable as springs were 
     digging in you.
well they are all the bad points the only good point is it only cost £10 for a cab into town. I would of rather paid double than stay there.
on the second night i was introduced to the manager, made the mistake of asking how was our rooms, basically i said crap. Told all what was wrong and he seemed very sorry and just kept saying we should of come down and told him i said we should not need to. He also said people like us do not stay there just work men, also he said he had not seen any bad reveiws well he certainly does not look on this site. personaly would not let a pet stay there. He said he had not even been in the rooms so what sort of manager is that. the rooms were not checked each day to see if anything was needed we only had 1 towel each which had to last the 3 nights we stayed.
On the Sat. night we popped into the bar to have a night cap after being in town the manager did give us a free round of drinks and once again said sorry.
when we had checked out he could hardly say 2 words to us when he saw us waiting for our cab, he seemed to be vey sheepish.
In a nut shell DO NOT stay here.

This place is horrible, and should be avoided at all costs:

*There is no shower attached to the wall, so you have to hold it in your hand!
*There are holes in the wall where there used to be a mirror (I'm assuming).
*The bed is super lumpy, you can feel the springs.
*The sheets are stained.
*The bed is stained (it's a divan).
*There is a kettle, and tea bags, but no coffee and empty sugar packets.
*It's above a pub where the music plays all night.
*Two towels for the entire stay.

I genuinely would never stay here again, even if it was free. We raised points with manager who seemed shocked. He admitted that the place is normally used by contractors. For £50 a night, I'd expect a lot more.

You also have to pay cash on arrival before you get your keys, I'm assuming so that you can't ask for a refund. 

Just awful.
