Strong Hostel Alba Iulia

Its my second time that I visit alba  iulia and stay at strong hostel.
Cristian the hostel honer are a grait guy
That let you fell home and help you with any thing you need.
The hostel are just in front of the alba iulia sitedal , grait few from the balcony at the six floor .

The stay here was not planned, it just happened. In fact, one hour before arriving in Alba Iulia I had no idea I was about to spend a night and a day there. But smth came up and so i found this guy Cristian on the internet, the owner and runner of the Strong Hostel. But, a hostel in an apartment situated on the 5th floor? Really? Hmm. The reviews and the stories behind were great though, so I decided to give it a shot, highly motivated by the fact that i was about to have the whole place by myself, due to a sudden cancellation, goooood!
Well, it turned out to be one of the best stay I ever had in an official hostel in Romania!
Cristian is a that kind of guy that knows a lot of things, is very passionate about his work (he is an architect) and he loves both history and nature, which fits me well everytime. So we talk a lot about the fortress ! Also, he gave me full instructions in just 10 minutes about the heating, the facilities and amenities of the flat. After he left, I took over the place. Boy, I felt LIKE HOME, nice feeling, u know. 
So the location is very downtown and easy to reach. The hostel is indeed in a big apartment, is generally clean, fully functional and has a balcony with a fantastic panorama over the fortress, just beautiful. It has 1 hall, 4 rooms, two bathrooms (one with bathtub), free good WI-FI, satellite TV, phone, maps, library, mini-museum, hobby-workshop and a fully equipped kitchen. Due to location, one can find plenty of foodstores, shops, pastries, gas stations etc nearby or even down around the corner.
Early/late check-in/check-out's are possible, which is excellent for a backpacker, and Cristian is full of tips and more than helpful with everything else, from simple requests to excursions and tours around the town or the county. Next day we went on such a tour of the fortress and we had a wonderful time taking photos in the gorgeous medieval citadel of Alba iulia. Multumesc!
I hope I will get to stay there again soon!

If you are travelling Transylvania, make sure you stop in Alba Julia and book the Strong Hostel. The rooms are basic but allow for an amazing view at the ancient fortress, some rooms even have balconies to enjoy the view. You can use all the facilities including the kitchen, tea and toast are provided. The landlord Cristian is a wealth of information about Alba Julia and can point you to all touristic sites as well as restaurants and bars, which are all in walking distance. He also nows a lot about the history of the place, having been witnessed the unravelling of the Eastern bloc while living there etc. We were lucky to actually have him accompany us, and we had quite an amazing evening of local cuisine and local drinks and got immersed in Alba Julia's nightlife. Wish we had had a couple more days to stay at the Strong Hostel, as Cristian also organizes outdoor activities in the nearby mountains including hiking and parachuting. You won't get soft and cushy, look at some of the bigger hotels for that, but it's a great place to get a feeling for Transylvania. If you are that sort of traveller, interested in the place they you visiting and open to explore, you may well have the time of your life at Strong Hostel. Strongly recommend it.

Enriching hostel experience!

Fantastic, personable service

This hostel is a flat with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (and the office of its owner, Christian, who lives nearby).  It is shabby and fairly basic.  The location is amazing: the apartment block is on the boulevard that encircles the fortress - and the views the other way are to the mountains.

I didn't get to see the place inside because after I've made a reservation online when we got there (was not easy to find because there are no banners signs from the main street to gide you there) we could not get into the building and nowbody was answering the intercom nor the phone.
Still the owner sent an email a few hours later and apologized for the inconvenience!  
The location and the big gray building looks a little unsafe at a first glance. 
All this said this place(and this is just a subjective opinion based on the facts mentioned before) is a location I can't recommend!
