1079 reviewsStayed for 3 nights 12-15 May in a Mansard room at the top of the building (lift to 3rd floor). The room was very spacious, more so than the usual rooms we have stayed in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the hotel and would definitely recommend. The hotel is situated on the edge of the old town and everything is easily walkable (even with my hip problem). We arrived around 9pm, the check in was speedy so we were ready for a bedtime drink in no time. We asked the chap on reception where he could recommend for a drink but he was most unhelpful, saying he didn't recommend places. That was our only negative, everyone else were great. We wandered off to the right of the hotel and found a nice, if unusual, place called Winston's, I think it was on Long Lane. We later discovered that if you went straight ahead from the main hotel door (less than 100 yards) there was a bar that sold beer for 10 zloty (£2), and if from there, you went right there was a nice bar call Grass, where we later spent most of our time as they did food and sold Guinness! Breakfast was decent, without being outstanding, with a wide selection to choose from and the staff very attentive. The coffee, for me, was very strong so I ended up using half coffee/half water to make it more palatable for my taste. On our second day we took a boat trip to Westerplasse (or similar name), which we enjoyed as it travelled through the busy docklands, although I would recommend the normal boat trip rather than on the boats that look like galleons, as they seen to get busy with school outings. Would we go back to Gdansk? Probably not, but mainly because we like trying different places. But I would recommend Hotel Wolne.
