This is by far the worst hotel where we have ever stayed in Mexico.
The whole house has a lot of humidity. Throughout the day and night there is an awful smell of waste water coming from the bathroom into the room. At night we had to close the balcony window to avoid mosquitoes and felt trapped inside a dark place with bad smell.  We could not sleep and it was a true nightmare. Bathroom sink was clogged causing dirt to cumulate, something very unpleasant to see everytime we brushed our teeth or washed our hands. Bed clothes old and worn out. Internet access given at check in did not work, we had to get in touch with the owner to request another one. Owner makes sure to charge you by cash before you see the room, when you realize where you are it is already too late to give it up. Even though we had already paid for two nights, we decided to leave the place on the next day after we had checked in.

If you decide to go, go at your own risk, but don´t complain that you have not been warned before.

Tourist Trap

Excellent location. Very clean and tidy. The place is beautiful, very important to consider that there are many stairs, you can come alone, couple, family, very quiet and safe area, 3 blocks from the Teatro Juárez.

The best place in Guanajuato.

On the day we set up, entering the diner, an armed man skillfully grabbed my teenage daughter from the blouse and with the other hand holding a white gun, robbed us as much as he could, including the payment of the remaining 50% of our 2-night, 2-bedroom accommodation, as they did not accept a card.We immediately contacted Mrs. Paty (owner) who said yes and notified the police, but she did not show up, nor did we see her, and asked an adult lady who would give us a night's sleep for everyone's fear, the next day we asked in the surrounding area and our offer confirmed that we had indeed spent some time in the area, but that we did not want to return to the area, because we knew that the personal detention was not a matter of time, and that we were living in the nearby area, but that the next day we were not able to see the hotel, because we were not able to see the hotel, because we were not able to see any of the other people, and of course, we did not want to see the prices of the hotel, because we were not able to get

We were attacked at the door of the House of Peter, a very unsafe area.

Place of cheating tourists please I waited 3 horas for get hot water finally got shower with cold water , no parking place but day said we have last min sorry we paid extra 400 peso for parking , no clean please avoid

Horrible

The ground floor room is unbearable with noise all night long, too much light enters and you can't sleep.Without WiFi even though they say it has no coverage, the TV doesn't get any signal.The attention is poor.The only good thing is the view from the rooftop terrace but access is difficult.

There is no return.

Due to the global pandemic my flight was cancelled and I was forced to cancel my booking but I want to say that at all times both in the booking and in the cancellation everything has been facilitated (in my other accommodations has not been so), responded to the messages very soon (a plus for me) and very kindly and when all this happens and I can travel again I will definitely stay in Casa de Pita.

I wish I could have gone.

It’s a nicely decorated casa. We stayed at a 4 single-bed room and were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful arrangement in the room. The room and beds are clean though the shower room is a bit small. Breakfast was nice and the rooftop has great views! It was a great stay!

I made a reservation for three nights for my clients as a tourist guide, I paid in advance for 50% of the total stay, when I arrived at the hotel they indicated the room and cancelled the outstanding balance.When I arrived the next morning to pick up my clients, they told me that they had had had a bad night, that the room was very dark, that there was a lot of dust and no hot water in the bathroom, but above all that it was not the room they had requested; they asked me if I could request that they change them to a room with better lighting. When I commented on Paty's complaint, my clients informed me that they had requested a room with King Size and that's what they had, that if they had not enjoyed the water they would have preferred to wait for the room to be cleaned and that there was no room to be cleaned and that they would not have to look for any extra money.

The attention of its owner was greatly increased.

We had booked the King size room with balcony for 3 nights months ago through a friend who was acting as our guide during our travels round Mexico. (Our friend is a registered professional guide who was accompanying us.)

We arrived at Casa de Pita on the last day of February to find we'd been allocated the Family room - a gloomy cave of a room with, as we found out when going to bed, no hot water in the shower or sink,  ineffective lighting, nowhere to sit except on the bed, and a hotch potch of dusty knick knacks on most flat surfaces. 

For information, there is no common seating area,  other than the roof terrace which closes at 9.30pm and is tricky to access. The dining area is only available for use during breakfast and at no other times. We also had to agree to a long list of 'do's' and 'don'ts' when we arrived which was very unusual. 

We'd hoped for a quirky bed and breakfast - somewhere with personality - but Casa de Pita was such a disappointment.  It was grubby and dusty, poorly maintained and the collection of unusual items found everywhere looked past their best and in need of a clean or replacement. 

Anyway,  after our first night, when I had checked on the internet what room we'd been given and discovered that we'd been put in the family room and not the room we'd reserved,  our friend spoke to reception for us to see if we could change rooms and move into the room that we had actually booked. 

The young woman at reception could not have been less helpful.  In short, she told our friend that we had been given a room with a king size bed; that they allocated rooms at random so it did not matter what we thought we'd reserved; and if we were unhappy that was not her problem. 

My partner and I felt sufficiently unhappy about the place and their response to our enquiry that we decided, with the help of our friend, to find alternative accommodation even if it meant losing money at Casa de Pita. 

We packed our bags and as we were leaving the building the young woman on reception said our friend had been rude to her and then she followed us to accuse our friend of lying about the discussion they had had and our reservation.  It was a bizarre experience. 

Casa de Pita isn't the most expensive of places to stay but 3 nights in a dark, 
uncomfortable room  without hot water in the shower or sink could well have spoilt  our stay in Guanajuato which is a fantastic place to visit. 

I know there are many positive reviews about Casa de Pita and lots of people love the place but it's the worst place we have stayed in on this visit to Mexico. The attitude of the woman on reception was unbelievable, with no apparent concern for guests comfort or happiness. And it's especially baffling given the availability of other places to stay in Guanajuato including Air B and B's. 

I would caution anyone against staying here when there are plenty of accommodations for all tastes and budgets in Guanajuato.

I don't know why people love this place.

Extraordinary stay, friendly staff, close proximity to all the main things of the city.I would only recommend more variety for breakfast.Of the four days we stayed there, three times they served us full-bodied, very rich but we expected more variety.
