Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa

I had visited the Maldives back in early 2000s so I had a good idea what to expect. My wife had never been before so I was really looking forward to sharing my past knowledge with her. As it unfolded, it was nothing like my past visits some 25 years ago! The Airport had completely changed and was incredibly modern, beautiful and extremely functional. Also this trip included compulsory seaplane transfers which were absolutely brilliant fun!! We arrived quite tired after our direct BA flight however, we were made to feel so welcome from the staff in reception who then took us onto a quick tour and then onto our adjoined beach villa number 148. The villa was well air-conditioned and very comfortable and with a great bathroom! We enjoyed snorkelling out on the reef and along the entire north side outer edge where it drops off to around 20 -40 feet at least twice a day! We saw Turtles, Spotted Eagle Rays, Moray Eels, Sharks and a huge amount of the most amazing reef fish! The Funama restaurant was lovely and we were taken care of during each meal by a team of waiters who were so attentive to our needs and wants . We are both foodies and I love cooking and especially curries, so to learn that we have at least three curries for lunch and dinner was just heaven for me! Salads, breads, soups and fruits were just amazing. If you have a sweet tooth then you'll be in desert heaven! After dinner we retired to the outer bar area which is on the large wooden decking which runs up to a reef view and is lit at night so you can sip a cocktail whilst watching the reef fish chase and search for food! After 10 nights and with around 25 hours of snorkelling and relaxing in the most amazing atmospheres we had to return home and not without a tear in my eye! Thank you Vilamendhoo you have provided both my wife and I with the most amazing memories which we will cherish forever, and we look forward to returning hopefully next year! :-)
