Plus: The guesthouse is located in a quiet street. Spacious room on the ground floor with three beds, in which we stayed with two people. Separate bathroom with private toilet. Everything was neat and clean. Next to the old part of the building, in which we stayed, a completely new building is being built. During our stay (end of June) the rooms on the ground floor were already in use. There was still plenty of sawing and drilling going on on the first floor. The main street with some restaurants and a large square are about a 5 minute walk away. Good Wi-Fi. The breakfast in a separate room, with the other guests, was fine.
Minus: Despite open windows, it cooled down slowly at night, making the room quite warm. The beds have a high raised edge at the end. If you are taller, you will not fit well in the bed. The beds creak annoyingly with every movement; it would be good if something was done about that.


Good place to stay, but with some minor comments.

Location: This guesthouse is located very central. Only 800m from the main road and marshrutka station to Jalalabad.

Room: we stayed in the first room on the left. It was great! The bed was comfy and there was plenty of warm blankets to keep us warm. The decor is very old fashioned and stylish, with family pictures scattering the shelves and walls.

Staff: Guka was a lovely host. She helped us plan our onward journey when we had a last minute chance get of plan. Her English is fantastic and she gave us a nice welcome late in the evening.

Amenities: there is a kitchen available to use should you need hot water or a fridge to store food. Breakfast is provided too. The toilets are very clean and she can help you to organise a tour around Kyrgyzstan should you need it.

I would highly recommend this guesthouse if you want to break up the 13 hour journey from Bishkek to Osh. We stopped here and didn't regret it!

Stop over from Bishkek to Osh recommended

Staring at beautiful Toktogul is something you should do in Kyrgyzstan, and this homestay is the perfect place to rest after enjoying it. Cosy house and lovely family, rooms and bathroom are clean. You can do laundry, relax in the courtyard or in the inside living room, use the wifi (not working perfectly throughout the building but is good enough). They can prepare traditional dinner on request, and breakfast is included. Totally recommendable!

Lovely guesthouse in a fantastic environment

The guesthouse was relaxing, clean, and well-kept. It was great to have a shower and WiFi after a few days on the road. Azamat and his family are friendly and easy going. Their home is in the center of town where it's easy to go to the market.

Comfortable Guesthouse in Town Center

If you want to have a native and super nice experience. Staying at Guest House Kaghan in Toktogul is what you need. The small town is very quiet and privileged with a charming reservation (looks like a lake). The pousada is very nice. The girls who attend speak understandable English and the price is very cheap. If you are looking for comfort in a hotel, it is not here. But if you are looking for a pleasant night with good service. Come!

That's a real prick!

And as i was coming back from 5 days trekking i really needed the Internet. And there is nowhere else in Toktogul where i could connect. So i was not really happy despite the fact that the home is comfotable and pleasant, with a good breakfast. It is signposted.

Very nice, except the Internet (wifi) did not work

Thanks to mooching around TripAdvisor, I decided to head to Toktogul for a couple of nights. I'm glad I did. Azamat and family gave a warm welcome to small - town Kyrgyzstan, and kept me well - fed, comfortable, and gave the opportunity to enjoy a typical Kyrgyz home. There was a good hot shower, decent Wifi, and the soft side of me loved having the naturally curious children around. The family were natural hosts, and a pleasure to be around.

Thanks to Azamat's friend Balsambek (I hope I spelt that right - he's a lovely guy) I managed to get my lazy behind up a mountain. If you need a local guide, ask Azamat for him specifically; we didn't speak more than a few words in common, but he was a great guide, and highly enjoyable, friendly company. They both also humiliated me at billiards, but that's my uselessness..

Toktogul itself was a  charming place, and I found it more friendly than the frequent tourist destination of Karakol. It's a big thumbs-up from me.


A lovely slice of Kyrgyz life

The GuestHouse is not listed on the street at all. It was a bit complicated to find, we had to call the manager who answered her phone from the first call. We had booked the day before via Facebook. At this level, it was very convenient. The place is very cute. Near the bazaar. The market is nice. A nice house, with a garden, a yurt in the middle and a vegetable garden. There was also a dining room outside to have meals. It was very nice. The meals were very nice and friendly. We had the opportunity to have vodka at a party, it was really hard to ref... It was a little disappointing when we asked for advice from the surrounding lakes, a yurt in the middle and a vegetable garden. There was also a dining room outside to have meals. It was very nice. Welcome - But not much advice for visiting the area

I went to the Cagan guest house from August 25th to August 27th and I liked everything. Everything is at the basic level. Wi-Fi works, of course. Shower and toilet inside the house. It's cozy, and I recommend it!

We were very welcomed by the family of the guesthouse, where the children spoke French and English, and in the heart of the bustling city is a beautiful, well-maintained traditional house.
