Spent two nights and everything was excellent. Rooms were large and clean and the staff was super friendly. It felt like staying at a friends house. Location is also great, quiet neighbourhood and walking distance to the city centre.

Our one night stay at this unique hostel was one of the most memorable during a two week trip that my husband and I recently did in Japan. The hostel itself is a gem with its atmospheric, stylish bar and reception area and spacious, clean and creatively furnished rooms. But the real treat and reason for me to highly recommend this hostel to anyone who is interested in getting connected to locals and learning more about the country they are traveling in is Sada-San, the owner. He is a truly unique person and made our stay absolutely special. He invited us to a welcome drink at the bar, which actually developed into a 2 hour crash course introduction to Japanese music across a broad range of styles. I treasure the playlist that I added to my iphone that evening as a result of Sada-san's recommendations. But he is not only a hidden DJ, he also introduced us to the "flat house initiative" that tries to preserve this traditional type of building that disappears more and more in modern Japan. Sada-san is engaged in the repair and remodeling of these houses and even contributes to a specialist magazine on this topic. Clearly, a man of many talents! After he closed the hostel for the night he was kind enough to take us to a very authentic small (5 locals and us!)  gyoza restaurant where I had a chance to enjoy the best chicken wings I have ever had. Too bad that the original destination, the #1 ramen restaurant in Sada-san's view, was closed that evening! If the place be took us to was the fall-back, the original place must have been incredible. In a country where it is not always easy to connect with locals, the stay with Sada-san really created a lasting fantastic memory of this trip for us and further fueled our fascination with this amazing country, and beautiful Kyushu island. We cannot thank you enough, Sada-san, for this unique experience!

Small hotel that is a house with big rooms, big and confortable beds and big bathrooms in comparison with Japan's city standards. 
It is calmed, with great hospitality and with nice and cute terraces to take fresh air or smoke.
Easy to reach by bus (we had easy and clear instructions from the host).
I really recommend it.
Fair price for a warm stay.

This is a slightly different place to where we have stayed differently. It is a very beautiful townhouse with only two guest rooms available. The house itself is beautifully designed, with owner saying he designed it himself (would love to transport it back home with me!). The room was very spacious, with a large king bed. The beautiful outdoor balcony was perfect to take in the surrounding streets, and the room was fitted with your own ensuite toilet, bath and shower. 
In the morning we were greeted with coffee downstairs, and we talked with the very friendly owner. Would definitely recommend staying in this gorgeous house, and getting to know Fukuoka and it's surrounds.

This place is fabulous. It's on a quiet street a few blocks south of downtown Fukuoka. Everything is brand new and spotlessly clean. I stayed in the private room, which had a huge bed, a big shower and a private balcony overlooking the street. 

The owner is an impeccable host and made every effort to make sure the guests felt comfortable and welcome. We ended up eating and drinking together both nights I was there, while he educated us on Japanese music...  I can't recall if breakfast is formally included but there was a light breakfast sandwich and plenty of coffee available in the morning, and snacks occasionally materialized next to my Shochu and beer in the evenings.  The owner also gave really great advice on local restaurants and attractions in Fukuoka. 

As with all hostels (Costels?) you do run the risk of running into noisy guests (like me!). Also, it's a solid 10-15 minute walk from Hakata Station to the Costel and getting closer on public transit is a bit convoluted, so if you have a lot of luggage you might want to consider taking a cab from the airport or the Shinkansen station.  

Overall this is a very chill, comfortable spot - I highly recommend it.
