It looks nice from the outside. Although the room is clean enough, the bathroom is different story. It wasn't cleaned properly. Hairs covering the strainer and the smell is disgusting. It's because the room have no window, at least they could've put air freshener to make the bathroom smell little bit bearable. We spent two nights, even on the second day the hairs still covering the strainer. Smell of stale cigarette lingering as it looks like they allowing smoking inside the room. It was terrible experience and really disappointing.

Cosy little courtyard Guest house with a touch of Balinese decor about it! 

Rooms are clean, staff are friendly, there is touch of dignity to the place and most of all the WIFI actually works, not just in the lobby but in the rooms too. 

So you can freshen up, have a nice bite to eat and then settle in for a night of good wifi, emails and Youtube before heading off to Mount Bromo in the early hours of the morning. (if that is your schedule) 

Otherwise the AC works fine in the rooms and you should have a pleasant night's sleep if there for business or pleasure.

COSY HOTEL WITH GREAT ROOM WIFI

I spent three nights in a suite room with this guest house.  The suite was large - king bed and a sofa bed as well, plus shower/bathroom.  Overall, the room was clean and spacious, and the shower had good hot water.  The guesthouse itself is also quite cosy with a nice sitting area in the lower level.

Breakfast was included although I chose to skip it and eat out a few times because I didn't think it was very good (lots of options, but not the best -- and lots of cheap street food and cafes making it hard to justify a mediocre meal).  They also provided tea and an afternoon snack, which was a nice touch.

The air conditioning in my room worked, but I had to re-start it several times in the middle of the night.  Given that Malang is pretty cool, it wasn't a major issue for me.

The wifi worked well near the lobby but the signal was not strong enough in my upstairs room. 

The staff are extremely friendly.  The only complaint is that their knowledge for a tourist is not very good. I asked about organizing a trip to Bromo and Batu, and they basically called the Malang tourism office, so very little info came back and the prices were high. I ended up going with my own -- I basically hired a grab driver for about half the price. They also gave me a few pieces of bad info (e.g. attraction was closed when it was not).

So overall, nice place and super nice staff - just do your own research and don't expect they will have the answers!

Good budget option

Clean room, strong water pressure, comfortable bedding. Paperbacks are offered in the lounge for guests to enjoy, the lounge is also decorated with beautiful handicrafts available for sale. Breakfast is simple but hearty and portions are generous. The staff are so friendly, always smiling and helpful. A great, cozy little place, highly recommended!

The stones, described as simple, turned out to be a small sensation: uncomplicated reception, friendly service, and rooms up to European standards (the odor problem seems to be solved).

Positive: Fantastic service, good, simple breakfast and a nice afternoon snack; cheap and good laundry service; simple but clean rooms: Bad smell and environment not too nice.

Super service, nice ambience, great price and performance

The Merbabu Guest House is a top address in Malang. Very beautiful and well-maintained rooms, especially No. 11, perfect service and a pleasant breakfast. The center can be easily reached on foot in 15 minutes.

Very nice boarding house with wonderful service

The hotel is very convenient, but very clean and comfortable, with excellent staff always available (even for organizing excursions), not very close to the center but in the area served with bars and restaurants.

The guest house is located in a more quiet residential area, the center should be affordable by taxi. The rooms are arranged around an inner courtyard with fountains so that there is no noise. Everything makes a very neat impression and seems to be relatively new. Our room for 3 people was very large, the bathroom was European standard. There was a water cook, coffee powder and water bottles on the room. Also, you could do free coffee or tea at any time in the restaurant. In the afternoon a small snack was provided. During our three-day Bromo I tours we were able to solve our food problem in the guest house. The anxiety was very low and helpless. The restaurant was very helpless and free. There was nothing to be found in the kitchen, so the restaurants were not far away from the Indian kitchen, so there was nothing to be found in the kitchen with small restaurants in the evening.
