14 reviewsMy husband and I spent 4 days of our 2-week stay in India at EWCR. This place was just what we were looking for: a beautiful place away from the noise and pollution of the cities. Since we were the only guests at the camp, we got the full attention of the owner, Vijay, and his helpers. We went on multiple safarii's, with Vijay as a guide. With his background in forestry and love of nature, he provided lots of information about the birds and animals as well as the geology and history of the area. We went on personalized tours of places in the area that we were interested in including the hydroelectric dam (I'm a physicist) and several of the shrines and ashram. We also hiked to one of the remote local villages, which was really neat to see. If you are looking for the amenities of a hotel, then this is not the place for you. However if you want a place to sleep that is warm (we visited in winter), a private bathroom, and more wonderful food, tea/chai, and snacks than you can possibly eat then this is a great place. The cook even made a tasty crab soup when they found out that I was from Maryland, which is know for its blue crabs. If we come back to India someday, we would definitely love to come back here.
