I had a wonderful stay here, booked online very last minute on my way to Beaune. Staff were surprised to see me considering my 2000h arrival but were accomodating and polite for the entirety of my overnight stay. The hotel is quaint, the fireplace in the dining room is from the 1500s! Lovely room (26) was a great size, overlooking the square, comfortable, clean and quiet. Parking was an extra charge, but street and other parking was expensive ticketed parking so I chose to park in their garage for piece of mind (no parking fines on holiday thank you very much).  I liked the relaxed ‘homely’ atmosphere, and their beautiful dog was good natured and very well behaved :).
Breakfast was fabulous- fresh baguettes, hard cheese, boiled eggs, pastries and an assortment of jams. 11am check out gave me time to stroll around the town and see some of the sights before getting back on the road. 
Great experience and value for money. Some of the scathing reviews I’ve read baffled me because they don’t seem to take into consideration that it’s a 2 star hotel in the heart of Auxerre at one of the least expensive choices in town. 

Overnight delight!

Location of this hotel is in a very nice part of town. Old style French hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable, clean, but small. The staff is nice and helpful. Good breakfast. Parking is 15 Euro per day.

Nice hotel, good location.

The positive points are that the bed is good, the room is clean and the hotel is central. However, do not choose this hotel for its decoration that goes from René Cotty to the present day, all under a shiny black vinyl ceiling and with a view to the backyard.... a mix of the most surprising heteroclite! Also come armed with your shower gel, shampoo and if you need your hair dryer. The reception was not very pleasant but more cordial the next morning. Hotel without elevator and end of lunch at 9:39 not negotiable.

Go your way. The common ones are getting old to the point of being healthy. The room is  correct  but cool. The only radiator in the room doesn't allow it to heat properly. The bathroom is from another time. And the pump, it's been a week without CB already...

It's a mess.

We stayed for one night on our way skiing and it is a lovely old style French Hotel - one of the nicest places we have stayed on our way skiing.  Really comfortable and clean room overlooking the square with a wonderful bathroom.  Really friendly and helpful and cheerful staff and a very good simple dinner.

Lovely Hotel

I had dinner at the Post Office recently, the charm of the old one, where we are very welcome, the card is not huge but it is rather a guarantee of quality to my taste, the wine card is very well supplied, the meal was very good and at a very reasonable price, a good address in Auxerre.

A good restaurant.

I went to this small hotel one evening in July, on the way to the holidays. I chose it for two reasons: I had read several very positive reviews on different sites, and I still prefer small downtown establishments to hotel chains. When I booked, I announced an arrival around 8:00 p.m., stating that I might arrive later: the head of the establishment had replied that it was no problem. I left the hotel later than planned and I realized, on the way, that I would arrive well after the time initially indicated. I called the hotel chains: I didn't know how to get to the hotel until 8:00 p.m., stating that I could arrive later: the manager of the establishment had replied that it was no problem. When I arrived at the hotel, she didn't have lunch, but I was kindly told that I didn't want to leave the hotel, so I had to make a reminder, that I had to return to the hotel with a reminder that I didn't have a good night's rest! When I arrived at the hotel, I didn't have lunch, so I didn't get to the hotel

I'm very disappointed.

Hotel located in an old Auxerroise house. The room we had on the parking lot, but it was completely renovated. Very good bed, very spacious and quiet room. Lunch a little expensive for what is offered, but the staff and a big dog are very kind and hospitable. For the night we were very well there. Very good value for money.

Night in the sup room

Great location for visiting Auxerre. parking is available in the hotel (€15/day) but public parking is adjacent. Room was comfortable and clean. It's an old hotel which is a bit worn now but staff were helpful and efficient. Wi-Fi was a bit flaky.

Fabulous location

Hotel de la poste is situated right in the heart of the old town, which is a great place to visit. We stayed 1 night and had a delicious meal in front of a roaring log fire and a super, generous breakfast. It's very quirky, , and well worth a stopover.
