Let's start here: We were a party of seven with a very low budget. We had around $500 (US DOLLARS), each one, for an eleven days backpacking trip. We went to different places in Colombia looking for places to spend the night that were cheap, clean and safe. Casa Violeta is a nice place to stay, feels like home, it's clean, has comfortable beds, it's charming, hot water, friendly personnel. It's true it does not have heater and the bed is a little cold, but I have been in other places is Latin America with cold weathers also and you will not find heaters anywhere. So anyone traveling to Colombia or Guatemala and staying in hostels should know that. We paid $12 each one and the price included breakfast, it's a bargain!!!!! We also requested laundry service and we paid like $10 or less for a huge pile of dirty and stinky clothes to get clean. It's located at very few minutes from Botero Museum, Cerro Monserrate and other wonderful attractions. You can find a taxi at any time and you can go everywhere you want from there in minutes. We rent a car and there are parking lots in the same street available (one 24 hours and other that close earlier), but everything is in you hands. In 11 days, I stayed twice at this place and the other nine nights at different places all over a route from Bogota to Medellin. This was one of my favorite place and was of the best places I stayed!!!!
