Friendly staff secured and very clean Road to hotel needs improvement and need to work on the wifi connection

Seemingly out of nowhere, we arrived at Saddle Hill Ranch.  We were greeted by the hotel manager, who took us on a tour of many of the hotel's suites and villas.  I was particularly impressed by the views, the spacious rooms in the villas, and the willingness of the hotel staff to go the extra mile for their guests.  The property offers guided hikes around the nearby countryside; horseback riding from their own stables; visits to nearby secluded lakes, and they will even deliver your shopping list to your room (in the villas with a kitchen).

An Oasis!

This is an ok getaway for family and friends away from the city if you want some lone quiet time. Great for private parties and other intimate events. Swimming pool is actually well maintained. You have to call way ahead of time to make reservations especially if you need to hike the saddle hill. As for transportation roads are not tarred so you will need a very reliable car that can take the beating.

Family vacation

Recently spent several days in an Executive Suite for business travel. The views are lovely and it cools off beautifully at night. The bed was comfortable and clean, fresh linens. But there was never any WI FI, critical for business operations, tv worked intermittently and for several days no hot water! Food was very limited in choice mostly rice, fried chicken and plantains. No amenities as described in their website. Security was a concern. Windows had no screens and there were no mosquito nets so slept with the windows closed. Much of the exterior lighting didn't work so you needed a flash light to get from the car park to your room at night. Not a destination for travelers, better to stay in Bamenda at half the cost! Staff seemed to try to be accomodating but they had little to work with. For example the bar served only whiskey and champagne and no breakfast was available on the day of departure as the kitchen didn't open before 8am. Usually a fairly long wait (more than an hour) for food service in the evening.

Beautiful location but totally lacking in necessary services

The resort is in a very remote place that is very difficult to access.
The place is understaffed, thus affecting the service terribly(having to wait for about 3 hrs for food, rooms not cleaned , tv and wifi not working, grounds are neglected, overgrown bushes, no maintenance work, mould in bathrooms, broken sockets,dirty curtains...)
You pay a fortune and get rubbish in return
Plus the owner... his lack of professionalism, customer service skills is horrendous!
My conclusion is there are better places to  go have a good time ... SHR is certainly NOT one of them !


Expensive mess!

We found this hotel online in England and had hoped to stay there as a honeymoon destination after our wedding in Bamenda last week. I emailed the hotel and tried ringing over a period of months, but could never get a reply. In the end we rented a very nice apartment instead. 
Whilst in Bamenda we visited Saddle Hill Ranch and we were hoping to have a meal and drinks with friends and family. We were told by a man outside that there would be about an hours wait after they had contacted the lady to come from her home to cook. Obviously this was not acceptable, so we asked if we could just take a look around. We were informed that there would be a charge per head for all 10 of us to do so, needless to say we didn't bother. Caneroon needs a steep lesson in marketing and hospitality!
The location was pleasant after a steep and bumpy road (not unusual in Bamenda), but just from the outside it is not that special. There are chalets/apartments that look difficult to get to and the pool was dirty and uncared for. Very pleasant view and a nice busker outside though! Glad I didn't have my honeymoon there, it would clearly be a terrible let down,
