We stayed a few days and really the stay was wonderful, excellent attention from the owner where he was very careful not to get cold and we felt like home.

This is excellent!

I was in the last days of May and the truth was that the attention was excellent. The room where I slept was for 4 people, the saunas were clean, it had heating and bathroom. Excellent location, 1 square and a half from the Plaza Independencia (the main one of the Ciudad de Mendoza), in the middle of the city. The price per night is more than affordable! (2 things to keep in mind: It has new owners who are putting the tide on it, are fixing all the rooms (especially when I went to the rooms were fine, and I had no problem.) Lo 2nd: Now it's called Huellas y Montañas

Attention is excellent.

This place is a flophouse for wannabe be "street kids". When I first arrived there was a woman sleeping on the floor hidden behind a couch in the reception area. This should have told me something. I believe I was the only paying guest at the hostal, but there was a steady stream of locals swinging by to suck down cigarettes and swill cheap beer. It was loud until 2:00am when four of these locals came into the dorm to crash out for the night. No towel provided, shower only had scalding hot water that you couldn't physically stand under, there was a cigarette butte IN the shower, the hostal cat has pissed all over everything in the courtyard, and no breakfast provided. It is quite possible the actual owner has unknowingly allowed a handful of heroin addicts "run" the place for him. I hate suggesting something like that, but I honestly believe it may be the case. I'm considering trying to contact the actual owner to tell him how sad it is because it could be a fantastic hostal...

Absolute flophouse!!!

Awful. Disgusting. There are flies over the reception or main room. The price, $130.00 pesos, was really expensive for the place. It doesn´t worth $40,00 pesos. I had to spend 2 nights over there, because it was the only place that still was available (guess why?) and in the third I´d rather stay awake that stay into this crap. It might seem exagerated, but not. I don´t see how someone can rate this thing well. On top of all, in the bedroom for two, the upper bed was almost falling over, so imagine dying iin the middle of this crap. I would NEVER stay in this place again. In top of all, of course, the bathrooms were dirty and disgusting. I would say the whole place was dirty, kind of dark, and the upper view seems to lead to one of the so called "favelas" of Rio de Janeiro. Horrible.

At least the price was right for us and the kitchen was minimal. They promised us a good lunch and all we had when we woke up was a bowl of cereal too sweet and in quantity for four bowls, so the fifth one who got up had no more. Coffee, the same thing. There were no drapes in the beds, and so were the pillowcases. There seemed to be no cover fire because a gang played music until the early hours of the morning (tam-tam and guitar) while someone was listening to a movie too loud, so that those who tried to sleep could hear it too.

It's not expensive, but...

Horrible is the word you have to use to talk about this hotel, dirty, disgusting, the kitchen doesn't work, the door to our room doesn't close, the computer is broken, the lights too, megots found in the room, hair in the bed, the bathroom I don't dare to talk about... they should be ashamed!
