CrossPoint Sofia Hostel

This hostel is located in an apartment with shared kitchen and bathroom. There are comfortable dorms and the cleaning is just perfect. The location is perfect if you'd like to explore the city, because it's near the most important sites of Sofia. The host, Marco, is very kind, friendly and very professional. It's impossible to have any complain!

Great Hostel and very nice host

We booked on hostel world to check in at 12 but he told us we couldn't check in tell 14 so we left out bags and went. Marc was nice to us, didn't have a problem with him very friendly, and liked the qutoes around the rooms. Curtains didn't shut,lot of light in the room, one toilet and one shower not really enough but good enough and cheap

Hostel: Almost impossible to find, even the adress is wrong, nobody picking the phone at 11.00 in the morning.
Staff : The receptionist was inhospitable, obsessive compulsive,  both openly and passively aggressive, rude, arrogant,  playing loudly very old music without asking for your permission. He appeared very meticulous and thorough about rules that apply to YOU only.  He makes sure you feel unwelcome. 

Kitchen : 2.5 sq metres (yes, it's not a typo) for 35 people. Cooking impossible. How they fit 2 washing machines, 2 kettles, one sink, cupboards, a small table and 2 fake (cloth ) stools in there is beyond belief. Use of kitchen forbidden from 22.00 to 07.00.

Table, sofa and chairs? What do you mean table, sofa and chairs? We need the space to cram as many people as possible! There is not even one chair in there.
The only place you can be in this hostel is either in your bed or on the street and those wonderful services are going to cost you 10.5 euros per night without breakfast.
Security lacking (The door of the floor remains open as well as the dorm room and no receptionist at night!)
Check in: 15.00. 
Check out: 11.00.
Charging 5 euros for laundry.
Rooms: 7 beds in 12sq metres.  I slept horribly. 
Location: Average (15 min walk to centre), there are many other cheaper hostels in the very centre of Sofia.

Avoid if you don't want to ruin your holiday

WARNING: Do not book a double bed! There is no double bed at this hostel. They will gladly charge you for a double, and getting a refund involved calling the owner as the spaced out hippy at the front was extremely rude and would not help. More on that later. 

I usually don't leave reviews but this place had appalling service by the receptionist, and does not match the pictures at all. It's a shame because the place was pretty clean, and when I eventually spoke to the owner on the phone he resolved the payment issue within 30 seconds, something that the 'receptionist' kept saying "I need time to sort this for you!" Then went and grabbed a broom and swept the floor in front of us, showing his lack of care.

After looking for the entrance for about 20 minutes we finally found a small black unmarked door with a door bell and "crosspoint hostel" written on a piece of tape above the button. 
The stairs of this run down building had no lights so we guided ourselves up slowly, completely blind. 
Walking into reception we were shocked, this place looks NOTHING like the pictures. We are not fussy with accommodation and will stay basically anywhere, but the pictures look a LOT better than in person, be warned. We were (not greeted) by a hippy looking man at reception, I thought he would be cool and chill but as we stood next to him saying hello he ignored us and continued staring at Facebook on his laptop. He started the conversation saying "give me your passports", then proceeded to take 20 minutes to enter the details into his laptop, honestly he looked super high. 

We got shown our room which had two single beds pushed together, we mentioned we booked a double bed and I showed him our booking. He was very hostile and rude, telling us hostel world made a mistake and not to blame him and got very defensive. I said it's fine it's not your fault, but I chose this place because of the double bed and now we find out there is no double. We just wanted to sleep so two singles were fine, I simply wanted a refund for the difference so that I would pay for 'twin single' instead of 'double' as we didn't get a double bed. He kept saying it's too hard to do and to come back later, but all I needed was a small refund. He kept taking it as a personal attack (and he will probably reply to this saying it was personal) but it wasn't, I just wanted to pay for what we received. He kept repeating that it was hostel world's fault, so I gave up with him and spoke to the owner on the phone who said yes i should only be paying for twin single and we got some money back, all done easy.
I can't believe the attitude of the receptionist he was constantly rude and hostile, and anytime a guest would walk past he wouldn't take his eyes off the laptop screen to say hello it felt very uncomfortable and as if he had something against everyone staying there, all of us which were super friendly. 
There's only one toilet for 30 people so they've put passive aggressive notes around the place telling you not to use your phone so you don't take long doing your business in there and to talk to people instead, bit hard without a common room! 
Would not recommend to anyone simply due to our experience with the receptionist, the owner needs to take charge and improve the customer service as that's what really matters when travelling and staying in hostels! 
Ending on a good note, the place was very clean.

Receptionist extremely rude, ruined our stay

The lady who was at the reception was rude and antipathic. She looked at us as we were some thieves, and she gave us a room which was not what we have booked. No double bed but two beds. This was Noisy. Don't go here.
