We spent two nights here exploring Windcave NP and Badlands NP. The receptionist was a nice old gentleman who provided us with restaurant tips. The check-in was friendly and hassle-free. Rooms and bathrooms were top clean, the beds comfortable. We would stay here again.

Highly priced

This was the mostly poorly cleaned room that I was forced to stay in for a very long time.  Just about all areas were either untouched (for a long time) or was not paid attention to.  The sheets and towels were old and stained with very unappealing appearance.  The bathroom was disgusting.  It was very, very poorly cleaned with urine on the commode and dried urine on the floor.  The tub had scum buildup from about two weeks of not being cleaned.  The countertops in the bathroom and outside were both barely dusted.  The mirror was also untouched.  We spoke to the front desk and a very nice young lady helped with clean sheets and towels.  My wife felt compelled to clean the room herself.  We learned that the hotel owner is using untrained staff members to clean the rooms.  Additionally, the supervisor who was responsible for checking room cleanliness, did check our room, and identified it as being "clean" and having no problems.  This is a very poorly managed hotel.  We recommend staying elsewhere.

Very Poor Sanitary Conditions

Especially not to be scrapped by the not-so-spontaneous appearance of the street or the exterior of the motel. The reception is more than warm. The rooms are spacious and really very clean. There is no breakfast but at the reception there is free coffee offered at all times. It is quiet and about 30 km from Mount Rushmore.

Pleasantly surprised

Ideal if you have the car otherwise it's really out of town. It's not very clean some hair here and the one in the tub. Very disappointing WiFi the rest is ok, room is big and cheap. Breakfast is not there and it's not planned.

Just a technical step.

reception staff were pleasant hotel was quite basic however the room we had was to a good standard clean and comfortable shower /bath room not the best but satisfied our needs, location was not to bad a 20 minute walk into town offering shopping bars/restaurants.
good place to stay but i do think it was overpriced:(
we used this place as some ware to rest after doing the tourist trips to the likes of monument valley....

The office staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean.  It was easy to get to the many attractions in the area from their location. The microwave, refrigerator, WIFI were all included in the room price.     .

Our stay at the Avanti Motel in Rapid City SD

This motel is a great deal in a convenient location to downtown Rapid City. I spent a week in one of the non-remodeled rooms, and I can say with confidence if you are at all hesitant about booking one of those rooms, don't be. While I'm sure the room wasn't as fancy as the updated rooms, it was perfectly clean and the a/c, tv, microwave, and fridge all worked fine. Plenty of towels were provided as well as shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body lotion. The motel staff were friendly and helpful. I have seen some reviews describe the neighborhood as "sketchy." While we did see some slightly sketchy characters in the nearby Prairie Mart, I can honestly say I never felt unsafe in the area, and we walked to dinner every night, sometimes walking back late. We had no problems and felt comfortable during our stay. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was visiting Rapid City.

Great Value! Clean, comfortable, and convenient.

We had two rooms, suites that were supposed to have been handicap accessible...I called ahead and talked with the desk clerk before we made online reservations. She told me the rooms were easily accessible. When we got there it was late, and the rooms  were not handicap friendly, down at the bottom of stairs.

One suite was swapped for another room, but the smell was terrible...and the furnishings were worn out. The manager refused to return our money. The suite was attractive but very very hot. It didn't cool off all night even with the help of a box fan.

We tried to find other accomodations when we got there and discovered the "miscommunication." The manager was quite rude to my sister when she asked for a refund, saying she never called ahead about the rooms. What he didn't realize was I was waiting in the car, making calls back home to our family, and I was the one who placed the calls,  I didnt go in with the others.  By the time I learned about what was said, our parents were too tired to travel further that night anyway.

I was quite shocked to learn that, basically, the man called my 90 year old parents and 65-year old sister liars. "We called ahead" should have been sufficient. I dont know if the desk clerk I spoke with had gone for the day or if she just didnt was to engage with this man.

I understand this motel has new management now. I hope so, and I hope weary travelers are treated with more respect and honesty than we received that night in addition to a sweet smelling, comfortable room.

Not good for us

The hotel is conveniently located to visit Mount Rushmore, but the central street is a long walk away. A very attentive receptionist gave me a lot of time, tried to help with all the questions. The room is spacious, there is a refrigerator, microwave; a dresser with boxes; a table with chairs (you can eat or sit on the Internet). There is no coffee maker; coffee or tea can be taken at the reception, but to tell the truth, coffee was disgusting, and tea water was barely hot. The internet was at a good speed.

That's good enough.

Very nice owner and very willing to give information for eating and visiting. Large room, recently renovated, clean.
