All I can say is the new owners know what they are doing! They've captured the historic essence of the inn without feeling dated and still providing modern conveniences.  The rooms are beautifully renovated.  We stayed in the Tappan Room. Crisp clean decor with antique bedside tables and modern lamps that double as wireless chargers for your devices.  Traditional white tiled bathroom with clawfoot tub, and modern rainfall showers plus towel warmers!!  Breakfast is outstanding!  No dried up bagels or stale cereals here -   fresh eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast, and fresh fruit beautifully served. 

If you are not a fan of older homes, you may not appreciate the narrow staircases and imperfect floors.  Handicap accessibility was not a consideration when the inn was originally built. If you can overlook that, you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of the lake, scrumptious food, and top notch service.

Wonderful People, beautiful place, outstanding food!!

This was the most gorgeous location you can imagine! We had a private screened porch overlooking Lake Champlain. The decor was gorgeous, in an understated, tasteful way. Staff is outstanding. The breakfast was delicious and even better than we expected. We also had dinner there and it too was exquisite. We can't wait to go back and stay longer!

Absolutely perfect!

Simple room, nice shower, no view. Plenty of Towels but no glass to use in bathroom for rinsing after brushing teeth..  a simple need to fulfill. 
The Hotel has been newly renovated and is lovely but they were short staffed, made our arrival a disappointment.

Frustrating start but generally a nice overnight stay

Returning for the 5th time in 23 years at the Inn, we were delighted with the change and renovation of the rooms even though we already loved them before. Our room was very cozy and the view was magnificent. The only negative point is that we made a mistake in the reservation and booked 2 nights. I requested cancellation directly and a refund for one night, a refund which I did not receive and my emails went unanswered.



A good experience but ....

We had great expectations when we booked a full week at this B&B+  It straddles Rt US Hwy 2 E. On the water side there are three buildings with rooms plus their own Pier 
Bar and Grille while on the land side was the main Inn and the main restarant which served the breakfasts as well as exceptional dinners.

We steered toward a room in the Cove House right on the water and just feet from the Pier Bar. Unless you are staying in the same building (Southwind) as the bar, the music and crowd noises were acceptabl and not as loud as we had feared.

A safety note, our room, the Cobbler, was right on the water and inspite of advising their management of our issue with mold and mustiness, the room was very musty, and in fact had a build in exhaust fan which struggled to get rid of the smell without totally succeeding, Additionally, anyone 5'6" or taller should take great care as the entrance to this room has a doorway that is at least 5" lower than what is normally expected and I had hit the top of the doorjam so hard that I suffered from a concussion for 3 days and had to cancel a fishing tour as I couldn't balance myself. At my insistence they now have a small sign on the door warning of the reduced clearance.
The shower was super small and bathroom overall on the small side. Beds were good and the view was special. We actually were able to fish right fron the pario in fron of our room which ws reall nice.
Unfortunately they had a problem with spiders and had to treat the property around our room. Inexplicably, the ooutdoor staircase that lead to our room was covered in spifer webs and we had a real hard time avoiding contact with them. Can't understand why they didn't clena all that up.
Room service was on demand and your garbage had to be taken out aand placed in fron of the room. The only issue was, you would have to remind housekeeping to come and take it away. Towels, soaps, and shampoos were provided as was a hair drier.
Parking was a bit limited especially when cyclists came around or if there was a wedding going on, We usually had to park on the street diagonally and be out of the way of the bike lane.
The restarant at the inn however, was a big plus. Breakfasts were fine with the pretty much the same offering everyday with coffee, juices, eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes with muffins and yougart on the side. No breads except occassional blueberry muffins, The coffee and juices were brought to the table while everything else was buffet style.
The Pier BAr and Grille was a plus. They had really good Lobster Rolls and a dish that was very unique - Honduran Pulled Pork sandwich.
Drinks were availble through certain servers who were old enough to handle alcohol. The views were great as was the music.
The beach was more gravel than sand and too busy with Pier customers to be comfy so it went unused.
Now for the good parts.
Dinners were very good with a great selection and fine-dining approach to the meals. A full bar adjoined the dinning room though was understaffed. The servers, however, were absolutely accomodating and cordial. Thanks to Amber and Heiress, both high school students and our favorite servers. Warning-make reservations as the restaurant fills up quickly for dinners. For breskfasts you just need to show up and they'll accomodate.

The location of  the resort is probably it's best plus - from their we were able to get to Burlington, Green Mountains, Stowe , Middlebury, Warren, etc by looping from North Hero to South Hero, to Rt 2, Rt 7, Rt 104, 108 south, to Stowe then further 100south to Warren to 125West Middlebury (a must) then 7 north to Burlington and South Hero. A wonderful 4-5 hours  of scenic driving.
Also, their location to the North Heror Welcome Country Store (about 1 mile south on Rt 2E) where you can get everything from gas, live bait, gifts to deli sandwiches freshly made on buns baked locall. A great advantage to have close to the Inn.

Hints: Reserve way ahead of your anticipated visit - they do get busy. Do not stay in the Cobbler. Do not expect a lot until they sell the place. I think the new owners will inject some vitality into this complex and hope to visit again inspite of our issues with it,

Finally, they would benefit from adding more information on the website. It is very sparse and I had to make multiple calls to the Inn and speak with Sonja more times than needed (and she handled them all very well).

A Bit Neglected and Tired - Maybe Because It's Being Sold in the near future

The restaurant was absolutely wonderful. Excellent food and staff. The room was disappointing. Needs updating. Toilet was dirty and the carpet didn't look vacuumed. There was a bottle of  tea under the cupboard that was very old. The pictures appeared to be a better room. The closet had no baseboard. The wall was not finished. The cable wasn't good. The view is beautiful.

Anniversary stay

Unfortunately the tv set was not in working order. For the rest everything was acceptable.  I did stay for  only one 1 night so it's hard to comment further. I can't find other things to say.  The location is close to the water, it's an old inn very well preserved and very good looking.

very clean

This is the only real B&B in North Hero. It is a large complex of homes, cabins (sort of) and other buildings that sit right on the water. Lovely views. Front desk staff handled a large cycling group quickly. (Evidently cycling groups often stay here.Makes sense to me as this a cycling paradise.) The room I had was across the street and upstairs. OK sized and comfortable. Wifi, amazingly, worked just fine. Bathroom a little small, but the building was clearly of a certain older age and there was plenty of hot water and pressure in the shower, so all was good. There was a busy, casual restaurant on the water side of the road that had some nice, local craft beers (canned), and there is a good, fairly priced more "upscale" restaurant in the main building. The food was quite good. BFast, buffet style, was here also. TIP: If there is a cycling group staying there, avoid having your meals when they are scheduled to have their group meals. This was one on the better value B&B's I've stayed in for the price. Make your reservations EARLY!!!

Nice and popular place. And the only choice in North Hero.

Had an excellent experience at NHH, and enjoyed kayaking on the lake and borrowing their bikes for a ride on the amazing Lake Champlain bike trail.  Breakfast buffet was very tasty, with helpful staff, and we enjoyed the casual outdoor dinner (barbecue & shrimp tacos) at Steamboat Pier with a fun Saturday night cover band.
