Absolutely brilliant staff, very friendly and helpful and polite couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely room very clean and well decorated, fantastic breakfast will definitely stay again.

We had a very good stay. We were well looked after and the food was good. We will use this hotel again.

Spotless pub, with a few rooms, rooms spotless, all new, nice owner/ staff. Food ok, nice beer garden. Would stay again.

Really good area, easy parking, nice walk into Weymouth and really close to a quiet beach. Very nice welcome by the owner and a delicious breakfast!

Quiet location, handy for Rodwell path into Weymouth . Friendly local bar. Excellent breakfast, everthing hot as cooked to order at specific time. Bar meals could be useful addition but plenty of nearby dining options.

Perfectly located near Weymouth and Portland. Great cozy room with very clean and fresh looking en-suite. Breakfast was amazing everyday and the host was so accommodating and friendly. Will definitely be staying again!

We stayed for three nights. It is located in a quiet residential street and a very short distance from a trail which leads to the town centre and Chisel Beach. We enjoyed our evening walk after dinner. Both Portland and Durdle Door are less than 15 minutes drive away. Chisel Beach is only 20 minutes walk. I would recommend to take some lunch and spend a few hours on the beach. A very pleasant three days break and we had the perfect weather as well.

Very good location

A wonderful stay. The room was as per our expectation so really happy. Breakfast was excellent and service was accommodating on all levels. With current restrictions in place we needed to use takeaways as food was not available at the hotel but the owners made this very easy and went the extra mile and supplied all we needed.  On approach, the hotel looks like a work in progress but it is very clear the owners are working towards revitilising the hotel to a higher standard. We wish them all the best and would happily return at some point in the future.

We've been to the Old Castle on previous trips to Weymouth and it was always OK but the new owners, Martin and Diane have spent a lot of time doing the place up. On entering the building, the first thing you notice is that the Thai restaurant is gone and the area is now used as a breakfast area and on entering the bar, it's been refurbished too. The bedrooms have also had a revamp and the bunk beds have been removed from some of the rooms, creating a feeling of spaciousness in the rooms. They've also been decorated too. The beer garden has also had an overall, though I don't think the owners can take credit for the sunshine that we had when staying there. The next major difference was discovered the following morning. The small buffet breakfasts have gone and been replaced with a choice to suit most appetites, so if you want a buffet, you can have it, right up to a large cooked breakfast.The location of the hotel is also ideal, as it's only 15 to 20 minutes walk from town, so close enough to be handy, yet far enough away, to avoid the noise. If you don't feel like walking, there's a bus stop at the top of the road.. The hotel is also next to the Rodwell trail, so both Chesil beach and Portland are a walk away.Will be back again

We were met with a friendly reception and shown to our rooms and bathroom facilities.No en suite facilities but adequate provision of toilets and bath/shower along the corridor from our bedroom.The position of the hotel was excellent, just 5-10 minutes walk from Sandfoot beach and gardens which we enjoyed.  Also fairly close to the town where we made a 15 minute walk on the evening which was very pleasant.

I had an amazing stay at the old castle, the family room was very spaceus. Jean and nigel were very helpful and very nice people to stay with throughout are stay they were always around to help with anything. They work very hard to make sure you have a memorible stay. Very clean. food is nice. Beautiful area.

Lovely couple , couldn’t do more to make us feel welcomed even gave the kids hot chocolates at bed time Pub its self a bit up in the air due to them only taking over a few wks ago but didn’t effect us in any way , rooms perfect & clean , lovely garden area There hospitality was amazing , Will defo be returning later in the year & looking forward to seeing how there new ventures going

Lovely & homely

An enjoyable stay, Jean and Nigel Haynes made us feel very welcome, rooms were clean,lovely atmosphere in the evenings, in the bar. Local people very friendly. A good old fashion Hotel, children very welcome. If you want a Premier Inn this is not for you. The Castle Cove Sailing Club is just a short walk away, plus a beach and picnic area. A little gem! In I fact we have already booked to stay there end of May beginning of June as we are Sailing in the Wayfarer's National Championship. Look forward to seeing Jean and Nigel again they only took over the Hotel  two weeks ago and have worked very hard to bring it up to this standard.

Good old family Hotel near Beach and Sailing Club

Wow, loved this place and the enthusiastic new owners. Very clean, very comfortable and super friendly. As with all old buildings, there is updating to be done, but I would encourage you to look past this, and see a local family trying to run a local business. It’s really clean, and really easy going. No silly fuss made about check out times. Lovely continental breakfast until the kitchen is up and running. Private beach really close. Really cheap taxis to and from Weymouth. £5)We stayed in the family room which was fantastic. Really rate this place, we will definitely go back ***** Jane, Lee, Bonnie and Frank. See you soon xxxx

Brilliant pub, comfortable, clean

Me and my husband and 3 children stayed in their family room it was a good size room. We eat dinner here which was good value for money and tasted good. The children loved the Jacuzzi bath! The only complaint I have is the shower was too hot and i couldn't get it to cool down so was not enjoyable and there was no light in one if the toilets. The breakfast was really good and a good size.
