Had an amazing weekend in Saffi’s cottage. Party of 5 and a dog and all left feeling happy and excited to return. The onsite pool and games room were a huge bonus. Our cottage had amazing views and a hot tub. We cooked a lot and there was everything you could need, everything had been thought of. The beds are super comfy and the rooms beautifully decorated plus everything is spotless. I honestly cannot wait to return. I’m not very good and sitting and relaxing but here it came naturally. Going to miss those morning views

This was a perfect venue for our family and pup. The pool and sauna were awesome! The play room was loads of fun for the kids packed with toys and costumes ect. The games room was great for all! The enclosed outdoor area was great for the dog but the whole outdoor area felt spacious and well thought out. You never felt like you were imposing on other guests or vice versa. The cottages weren’t overlooked and had epic views. Was super tranquil- a lovely relaxing trip away. Smart TV great for the kids. Best equipped cottages we have stayed in. Great parking- even able to charge my brothers electric car. Great dining spaces. Beds were really comfy! All the little touches like the soaps in the bathrooms, the nice loo paper, the steps for little ones ect- all showed quality and attention to detail. Simon was a great host. His responses to our enquiries were answered really fast with lots of information and upon arrival made welcomed us with a tour of the cottages and facilities. The breakfast pastries were delicious and was a lovely touch. We all can’t wait to visit again! Cannot recommend enough. Thanks for having us!

We’ve just had a wonderful weekend break in Drakes Cottage. Simon was very welcoming and attentive.  The cottage was beautifully decorated, clean and cosy. The swimming pool was an added bonus! We would thoroughly recommend South Coombe Cottages to anyone thinking of visiting the area. The local pub is well worth a visit, only a short walk and the food was excellent.

Beautiful cottages inside & out everything you could possibly need in them we stayed the weekend for a 60th birthday so rented all  5 cottages  well equipped for all ages the pool was brilliant for all the children field for all 6 dogs! The bed was so comfortable in Drakes cottages where we stayed the cottages are of very high standard with all fixtures & fittings. Love the touch of pastries & cakes tea & coffee on arrival. We will definitely return soon didn't want to leave especially  the hot tubs in two of the cottages .

Three generations of our family had the most lovely time here. I was unsure about the allocated two hour pool time and thought it might be a bit restrictive but it was fantastic to have the pool to ourselves. The games room and sports field were perfect for the teens and the little shop was handy for ice lollies. Wednesday evening pizza in the village square and the village pub - around 20 mins walk away - were highlights for the grown ups. It’s around a hour to the coast but we really didn’t want to leave for long! Simon and Clare were so patient with a few different requests our party had and nothing was too much trouble, and the cupcakes when we arrived were the loveliest thoughtful touch. If you want a wholesome family retreat where you can reconnect with each other, sleep like logs and have a touch of luxury at the same time,  I can’t think of anywhere better. 

Had a perfect break over Christmas with family and friends….. beautiful cottage with so many amenities to keep humans and dogs well entertained! 
Arrived to find a well presented cottage which had been tastefully decorated for Christmas with thoughtful gifts left for us and the dogs! 
Great little games room with a pool table, foosball and table tennis to keep both kids and adults entertained, with scheduled pool time so that you can swim with your own party. 
The garden is enclosed making it perfect for the dogs and the hot tub has great views, including of the neighbouring el pacos! 
Fabulous cottage which the owners have thought of so many little details, would definitely recommend!

An awesome Xmas stay! Two families, two dogs. This place has everything. The cottages are well stocked with good kitchens, nice bathrooms, comfy beds etc etc… wifi works well enough to stream movies. A log fire made for an idyllic Xmas setting. Stunning views, a large hot tub and plenty of space for the dogs who were very welcome.  A games room and pool helped to keep everyone entertained. There’s liads here for smaller children too, with a play room and outside play area… These guys have thought of everything and we would definitely return, maybe in the summer!

This is a lovely 2 bedroom nicely decorated cottage with all the amenities that you may require for our weeks stay. It is in a peaceful, rural and romantic surroundings overlooking fields and farm land. The owners/hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. It is child and dog friendly with indoor and outdoor play area, snooker room, there are Guinea pigs, chickens on site with potential to see the alpacas. There is a lovely private swimming pool and sauna on site, which each cottage has allocated time slots at various times of the day in order to stay covid safe from other guests staying in other nearby cottages located on site. Some of larger cottages on site have a hot tub and although jonquil cottage doesn’t have one it didn’t make our stay any less enjoyable. There is a free car park on site with ample spaces for each cottage, which is located about a minute or two walk to your cottage. You can park right outside Jonquil cottage to load and unload your luggage at the time of check in/out. You may need to duck slightly under one set of beams in the middle of the main bedroom especially if you are over 5ft 6” tall, but it’s not a major issue. The owners/hosts are very welcoming/friendly. Highly recommend Mitre Inn pub, which is about 5 minute drive (under 2 miles away) which has a lovely ambience, friendly staff and does very good home made food. 30 minutes drive away we can highly recommend Spelt restaurant in Bampton which also does very good home made food. Although the cottage is in a rural peaceful location you are not far from A30, Tiverton is about 20 minute drive, Ilfracombe, Exmouth, Lynton and Lynmouth are all approximately 1 hour drive away, however you are fairly close to other seaside towns, national parks, castles and attractions. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend - we hope to be back soon.

Me and my husband stayed in the Shephard’s Hut and could not have had a more special two days. The Hut is in its own patch of land, completely private and secluded with the most spectacular views. A hot tub, deck chairs, long walks and a Michelin Star restaurant just a short drive away. Freshly baked pastries in the morning and the local pub (which also did great food) is just a ten minute walk away. I could recommend this place more for any couple looking to escape for a couple of nights of pure tranquility

5 adults, 1 baby and 1 Labrador stayed in Tikes Cottage (Tillys and Drakes) for 5 nights. Both cottages were extremely well equipped and clean.

The Tikes setup between the two cottages for a larger family was brilliant, there was a common hallway between the two cottages allowing free flow of undisturbed movement between the two, whilst maintaining a degree of separation. The hallway only services Tillys and Drakes. 

The free roaming ducks, alpacas, ginea pigs and chickens gave the farm a sense of life. We purchased fresh eggs when they were available.

Marie, was present throughout our stay, and was easily contactable by phone (text or call), any message was returned in a swift fashion and nothing was two much too much too ask.

Sauna and swimming pool was perfect, with 40minutes notice the sauna was turned on and heated up. The Swimming pool was both clean, warm and a respectable size. A nice environment to relax after a busy day. Each cottage has a 2 hour slot, which appears to be a hangover from the pandemic.

Play Room was full of toys and games (much more than the website images show) for a variety of ages, a lovely touch to keep the little one entertained.

We didn't use the games room, but from a peak it was well equipped. Outdoor jungle gyms x 2 were onside for use, along with a football goal.

The dog, well he loved roaming in the secure paddock and whilst the sheep weren't onside there was plenty of fields to play in along with a flowing stream at the bottom of the alpaca field where he dipped his toes.
