Polly was great with service, amazing time at the Winston, one of the best times of my life and without question Polly’s kindness and fun-ness made me not want to leave. I realised this is the best pub

Excellent service especially from our waitress Polly, kept on checking up on us and made us feel at home , friendly at the same time. I'm from Kenya and the service she provided made me feel at home and I'm very grateful

Polly was an excellent waitress and made our social 10/10 she provided us with high quality service and made our night amazing. She was constantly checking if we needed more drinks and the service was very fast.

Today I went to the winston , I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back. I think that it is a Great pub with Even better staff, who bring brilliant service  would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Came here with my two friends for a few drinks after lockdown! 2-4-1 cocktails were amazing, the summer strawberry lemonade was my favourite!! Our waitress Frankie was hilarious and helpful! Will be back for sure!!

I visited The Winston for some drinks with friends last night and had a great evening. The service was great, staff were super friendly - particularly a waitress called Frankie! She was very attentive and super nice! Will be visiting again for sure. Drinks are also very reasonably priced

We come to The Winston all the time. The staff (Frankie and Levi so good they deserve a raise!!!) are amazing and so friendly. The food is incredible and the drinks are equally good. The steak melt looks incredible.

Visited this place after a 3 hour drive the atmosphere and people really made my day. You must go to this place for a drink and a nice time.

The owner was fantastic along with levi at the bar will be going here every time in Southampton

I couldn’t recommend The winston enough lovely venue, clean, amazing refurb. The staff are polite, very helpful and attentive but most of all the food is fantastic! I’ve been to many restaurants in Southampton/Hampshire but this was far the best. Great presentation, good portion sizes to suit all and the taste was fantastic, not your average bland pub grub. It was delicious with a great use of flavours, my whole family really enjoyed it, something for everyone on the menu. Looking forward to my next visit!

Great cocktails and sunday roast dinner, we will definitely be back. We are all on the hair and beauty trade loving the sunday discounts. Thanks to all the staff for a lovely day. The zombie cocktail is worth coming back for on it's own.

Highly recommended

This is our 2nd time here since reopening and we would thoroughly recommend it, there is a range of traditional lagers and beers alongside the new additions of cocktails and even mocktails for the kids. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and with a small kids play area outside they feel welcome too. A welcome addition for the area.

Much better since the refurb..

Having previously drank in the Winston after work before it’s closure earlier in the year myself and my partner visited on opening night for dinner and drinks and both couldn’t get over how great the refurb looks and how amazing the food was. We returned a few days later for dinner again during the week and this time took our baby son. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and accommodated us with a quiet corner of the restaurant while our son slept in his pram. The cocktails and mocktails are as amazing as the food, I’d recommend the “el bueno”. All in all we enjoyed two fantastic nights - a busy and fun Friday night and then a much quieter mid week family setting the second time.

Excellent renovation and breath of new life under new management

Booked in to Stay at Winston Hotel for 1 night and ended up booking for 3. Great staff, good meals, the rooms are rooms comfortable enough not noisy, and the hotel is full of amazing characters that are happy to have a laugh. If you are open minded and want an authentic experience I highly recommend The Winston. We really felt welcomed and well looked after.

Good Craic

As with the last few reviews - we stayed here for 2 nights as a group of 22. It couldn't have been a better venue.

The communication in the lead up to our stay from Steve, Dean & Karen had been excellent, and upon arrival Steve immediately made us feel more than welcome and relaxed. This continued for our whole stay.

The accommodation was spot on - with the exterior guesthouse all to ourselves. Bedrooms and bathrooms were in excellent condition, clean and smart. The bed was the comfiest I've slept in away from home - something a couple of others said.

Breakfast was spot on. Beer selection and stock was also very good. 

Location to nightlife was extremely easy, a 10 min stroll. 

We will certainly be looking to head back. Really loved our time there.

Fantastic Welcome & Stay

As 22 of us lads piled off the coach at The Winston Hotel on our football tour, all adorned with various wigs and tour t shirts, I could hear the murmurs begin “this looks a little too nice for us” one of our party said, “do they know what they’re in for?” another asked... We took our stuff and ventured in to be greeted by Steve, he liked the wigs so we were off to a positive start but the apprehension was still tangible... Steve explained that our rooms were almost ready so we could all take a seat, and as we did something caught our eye, like a golden chalice, a beacon of confirmation that we were in the correct setting for what would no doubt be a very messy weekend... ‘ The Shotinator’!

When we got to our rooms they were spot on for what we needed, nice, clean and in an annexe slightly away from the main building. 

The bar was perfect for the odd occasion where alcohol played a part, with a tv for the football, a jukebox, a pool table and a noticeable lack of ‘Mark-like’ figures, more than can be said for the nearby Oceana... but I digress... the bar staff always made us feel welcome and the locals got involved in the merriment too.

Overall the Winston was an ideal location for our football tour and with a nearby location to town (15 minute walk to the bars) this would be great for smaller groups and couples alike.
