Lovely traditional country pub with fab staff and superb food. We were recommended The Crown Inn and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The owner was lovely. We booked in for dinner which was superb and great value for money well worth a visit !

Had Sunday lunch for my Dad’s 90th. Food was amazing, and a good menu choice. They were so accommodating for our family group (14). It was lovely and cosy with a real log fire. We will certainly be going back.

A pubs pub. And a little tub of branston  for pork pie for our walkers lunch. Having to write more words only detracts from the review.

It's been 8 years since we visited The Crown Inn, and although management had changed, not a lot else had, which was quite the relief. 
We spent our first holiday together here, got engaged and honeymooned here, and walking into the familiar and welcoming character of the building for our 9th anniversary, we knew we wouldn't be disappointed on this, our 5th visit.
Even with a change of management it still felt very much like our home away from home. James and his fabulous team were all amazing and Jimbo's full English each morning set us up for the day, too. It was truly delicious. A comfortable bar welcomes locals and visiting walkers, and has a lovely community vibe to it. A pool table and dart board are there for entertainment too, though we found that there was more than enough entertainment gained from spending time with the regulars. 
Our room (4) was very clean and comfortable, with a good, supportive bed for my rickety body and gave a bit of respite for my husband from having to duck under the beams everywhere else. If you're taller than 5'6" you definitely need to pay attention, but it's all part of the buildings charm. 
The Inn is perfectly placed, in the middle of beautiful countryside with easy access to slightly larger towns, and 30 mins or so from Ludlow if you love to explore busier places.
We genuinely love this part of the country and The Crown Inn makes it so appealing for return visits that we're already planning our next visit!

A warm welcome after a wet day in this long distance walk. Our evening meal in this country village pub was really fine dining. Excellent choice and all cooked here in the kitchen. The bedroom, tucked under the ancient beams was all white, soft  cotton sheets and fluffy duvets. Can't recommend the Crown enough.

We spent 3 Nights at this Rural Pub. Our room was quiet and had nice fresh linen and fluffy towels.  The Breakfast was well cooked and plenty of it. James the Host was most helpful and insured everything he could do to make our stay more enjoyable was never too much trouble, like wise with all the Staff.
Although we were there over the Jubilee Bank Holidays, and the Pub had special events, we were still not disturbed in our room.  The location is just off the Offa's Dyke  and is suitable for Walkers and Car Touring alike.

What a great find. We were walking Offa's Dyke and stumbled upon the Crown Inn. We were welcomed warmly and really looked after. They even arranged a taxi for us (from next door). There are so few places along Offa's Dyke that are great so would really recommend the Crown Inn

Booked for the Valentines Meal and was not disappointed. Landlord James excellent host with very polite and helpful bar staff.. Table was nicely decorated with valentine theme. The meal was delicious thanks to the fabulous chef Rhys and  team.

Stopped off for lunch on a Saturday, nice welcome, log fire burning, had delicious gammon. The inn has just changed ownership apparently.  Reasonably priced. So nice to enter a pub these days to encounter a warm dining area and a warm welcome with good food.

Stayed two nights mid July.
Good room, excellent food, pleasant host.
Could wish for nothing more.
Great location in a very quiet part of the Clun valley.
Good for exploring, walking, or having a relaxing time.

Offa's Dyke Gem

Rural Retreat

I moved to area last year, the Crown urban outstanding pub, a great atmosphere, even despite the current pandemic, they serve very good local beers and the food is very good, we had Christmas Dinner there last night, and both the service and the food were exceptional, and when they are doing them they serve the best fish and chips.

Came with friends last night for a meal as the chef has come from the dolfor inn we knew the food would be good, and he didnt disappoint.Not alot of choice on the menu but I take its because of the current situation.Good sized portions at a good price, the lady who served us was very friendly and attentive. Such a shame they left dofor.

Next nearest pub, thoroughly recommended is the White Horse in Clun.

This is very sad for the village but even worse for the occasional walker arriving hot off The Dyke at the end of the day expecting the facilities marked on their OS map, only to find it CLOSED!

We visited about one week ago, the food was amazing and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. If your looking for a 5 star hotel with a jacuzzi this is not the hotel for you but if you are looking for a nice and quiet place that is full of character then this is the place to go.The owners were very nice and told us a little bit about the history of the 300 year old inn and told us all a the great place to visit whilst staying at the Inn, we had an excellent home made chicken curry and the Welsh Black steak which was amazing and full of flavour cooked buy the own Peter. In the morning we had a great cooked full English breakfast which got us ready for our walk. Thank you Joanna, Peter and Natalie for the great stay we will come back soon.
