Shola Coach House

The other reviews citing the Shola as being excellent are all correct. It really is outstanding. And after seeing thousands of guests over the years one might think that Sharon and Dave's enthusiasm would be starting to ebb, but instead their welcome was as warm as ever. We stayed five nights this time, with the Shola being a good base for the Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge and the Dark Hedges to the east, with Derry and Donegal to the west. And in a little over an hour one can be in Belfast, where the Titanic and the Crown Liquor Saloon are two musts. Staying several nights at the Shola also provides the opportunity to enjoy the house. The beautiful lounge begs to be lingered in, with CDs and games there to be played. [Modesty forbids me to say who won at dominoes...] If it is cold Dave will be happy to light the fire, and you can also bring in food and wine. Now how cosy is that? If you are investigating a first trip to Ireland, I doubly recommend that you stay a few nights, as Ireland is NOT about charging about the place ticking off things on your to-visit list. Of course you'll visit the Giant's Causeway and other places too, but your trip should also be about relishing the countryside and coast, and relaxing. Plus drinking Guinness. But for when you do eat out, I mention that we had first-class meals at the Bishops Gate Hotel in Derry, and The Smugglers Inn near Bushmills. Browns in Town (in Derry) also has a good reputation, or as the locals call it, Brines in Tine. Slainte!
