We had a lovely welcome from the owners. The room was very comfortable, breakfast was excellent and they supplied a fine packed lunch including home made cake. If you're walking the South Downs Way the Chestnuts is a very good choice

An absolute gem for afternoon tea.  Large choice of sandwiches all freshly made and a choice of delicious cakes.  They even had gluten free sandwiches and scones. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful.  There are books to read and games on each table.
A wonderful place, we will return.

An amazing afternoon tea homemade and delicious with hosts that make you feel welcome.i would highly recommend . Very understanding as we were running late due to flooding.All ready booked to go again

Stayed in the en-suite room  - very comfortable attractive room. Malcolm and Mary made us very welcome . Excellent breakfast with wide choice of 'main' including kippers which were very tasty. Also had afternoon tea here which included wide choice of sandwich fillings, choice of fruit or plain scone and a piece of home made cake. All cakes are home made I had the Chocolate Guinness cake which was truly divine and the best i have had.  
Other 2 bedrooms in the accommodation share a luxury bathroom.

Stayed for a night during a walk on the South Downs Way - fantastic location, amazingly comfortable bed, hot shower and a warm welcome. Delicious veggie breakfast too. I loved the book-lined hall and tea room.

Fantastic home made scones, home made jam. Tea served in a pot with a cosy! Old fashioned charm with first class service. Reasonably priced, quaint location. I would recommend to anyone visiting Alfriston.

Stayed here before my final day walking the South Downs Way, and I’m very glad I did! Alfriston itself is beautiful, the B&B has 3 rooms and a shared bathroom. The owners were very welcoming, the tea room below had a delicious cake selection (there’s a discount if you’re a B&B guest), and there are shelves full of books to borrow. The only downside was that it was very warm overnight - but I think this was down to it having been the hottest day of the year rather than any intrinsic issue with the room. 

Best of all was the breakfast - ordered the day before and available starting from 7 (perfect as I wanted to set off early), the tea room was set up with a choice of cereals, fruit, yogurts and juices before the cooked meal came out. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my final day of walking - thank you! 

Cosy and comfortable place to stay in the picture-postcard town of Alfriston which is a great place to visit in its own right. Particularly if you like your afternoon teas which Chesnuts offer but also is a a great jumping off point for walks in the South Downs.  

The B7B is conveniently located for walkers on the South Downs Way.  It is an old building and the front door opens directly onto a busy street.  The best advice is to look before entering the street.  The room had a shared shower and a separate loo.  Both were adequate.  The stairs to the rooms are quite steep and one must duck or get a knot on one's head.  The breakfast had a varied menu which was welcome and it was very good.  This is a very good place to stay.
