The Sherwood Hideaway

We had lodge 15, lovely decor inside . All the basic items you need for a short stay. Dog treats left for our arrival as well as a small tea coffee and biscuits tray. Water was hot. Hot tub was glorious even on a chilly evening. It’s peaceful , litter and lout free. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to be with nature and close to great days out. Rose cottage is very dog friendly , they even offer doggy roasts for £4.50, our dogs both loved it . One word of warning is does smell a bit “doggy” in the pet friendly eating area. The food was delicious though . We’ve had a glorious time and will definitely return next year .

I booked this trip in the spur of the moment and then came to Tripadvisor for the reviews (after booking). I did feel somewhat disappointed after staying at Sherwood Pines a couple of weeks ago, reading the reviews….

 Well! Turns out, I had nothing to worry about! This place is so peaceful and well kept. Beautiful scenery, a very easy check in and excellent customer service. The rooms are fantastic, the cabin itself is perfect and there were even some welcome treats for our dog (in the pet friendly cabin). We have absolutely loved our time here and will be back again!

We came here on Monday after booking very last minute due to our home being flooded, to be honest anything warm and dry would have been acceptable. What we found was a beautifully clean, spacious and well furnished lodge in a lovely wooded glade. More than anything it was undoubtedly the staff that made all the difference, they were so sympathetic to our predicament and went above and beyond for us. This place is just down the road from our (flooded) house but that wouldn’t stop me from coming again, it’s like being a million miles away from everyday life. Thank you for doing our washing you are superstars 

Just coming to the end of a weeks stay. Great location, lots to do around the area, some great pubs and cafes. Some beautiful parks and woodland walks. It's a real shame that the woodland walks can't be accessed from the site itself but it didn't stop us getting out and about. Lodges are very nice with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Nice hot tub to relax after long walks. Lots of takeaways deliver if you don't want to cook or eat out. Nice quiet site. We will definitely be back some day.

I went to Sherwood Hideaway with my adult autistic daughter and we loved it.  Despite not having a car we were made to feel welcome and went to visit fantastic places Lorraine and her team were so friendly and gave us clear instructions to get to Ollerton roundabout so we could get buses to where we wanted to go. The hot tub and the accommodation were delightful and so comfortable. I will write to Nottingham highways to maintain and strim the footpath leading up to the roundabout.  We had a lovely break thank you so much for your help and love ❤️

A nice clean lodge with comfortable furnishing. Comes with a hot tub and BBQ outside. The site is very peaceful. Definitely a good choice for getting away from it all. Nothing to do on site, which wasn’t a problem for us. Very quiet at nighttime.

Really loved our stay , immaculate & very clean had everything we needed to make breakfast & dinner had a fantastic weekend retreat .
Definitely recommend & hope to return again ,relaxing place Hot tub was amazing .also lovely complementary treats for ourself & our dog 🥰

Myself and my partner stayed Friday - Monday in lodge 25. The lodge itself was very clean, and the bottle of Prosecco and chocolates was a nice touch. The hot tub was private, not overlooked by anyone at all. We had a great time and definitely recommend 

visited the Hideawys again with friends for a 4 day stay and we all throughly enjoyed the facilites in which the lodges offer to everyone.cant beat going outside to get into the hottub in the middle of winter.
visited Rufford Abbey on the saturday for Christmas markets which is not too far from the Hideaway.
the main purpose of our visit was to relax in the tranquill surroundings and that is what we did.
ordered a takeaway from a local Indian which arrived in a n hour and would recommend thier food as it was delicious.
look forward to visiting the Hideaways again soon.

This place is excellent we stayed in the rustic 2 bed Pet friendly lodge. The lodge was to a very high standard with robes slippers dog treats and towel for our dog. The hot tub overlooked the beautiful forest. The area is excellent for walking and booking outdoor activities. Lynn the lady who sorted out our booking went above and beyond and was so helpful from start to finish and Even phoned to say our lodge was ready an hour before check in time. Would definitely recommend Sherwood hideaway and will definitely be returning for future visits.

We came here last minute as we needed some time away.  It is a wonderful place.  Its peaceful and gives you a real feel of being in nature.  I loved the fact there was no shop or pub or playground on site it just made it a perfect hideaway! the dog treats and towel were a lovely touch - our doggy loved it here! the decking area was great and secure for our dog, with a gate leading onto a patch of grass which was great to take our dog onto. the views all round site and from our room were gorgeous. such an idealistic location. the lodge felt fresh and modern. the site is in prime location , with a 'services' about 5 minutes down the road- and sherwood forest, rufford,etc being around 10 minutes. each night we had a 'sunset walk' round site which was glorious- the sky over the forest was breathtaking. We stayed in lodge 8 and had a wonderful 4 night stay.  We didnt want to come home and are looking forward to rebooking.  In fact we have been looking at dates already.  

There were a few issues which is why it lost a star.  None of the issues impacted on the enjoyment of our stay but they really do need addressing as other people may find them a major issue.  
-The hot tub was clean and wonderfully hot but none of the jets worked.  It wasnt user error as we have the same hot tub.  We actually dont like the jets (we find them noisy) and prefer to sit in the hot water and listen to nature so it wasnt a major issue to us.  
-3 sets of blinds were broken, we managed to get them part way down but they were all bent and tatty and completely broken.  i would have expected a little better from luxury accomodation.  We put cushions in front of the part of window the broken blinds didnt cover so we were sorted so not a huge issue to us personally.  
-The oven had no markings left on the dials so we couldnt work out how to put the oven on. Also the grill pan was the wrong one for the oven and so wouldnt slide into place. Through trial and error we sussed it!  
-Upon losing my pen i had to dive down the side of the sofas.  I dont think they have ever seen a hoover and i brought handfull of dog hair, crumbs and god knows what out. I cleaned it so we were ok.
-  In the second master bedroom there were no plugs at all!  I stayed in the twin room instead which was very comfortable and the bedding was feather and down and i had 4 glorious nights sleep.  I didnt like how the shower was literally in the master bedroom and wasnt private.  I didnt like the idea of having a shower in full view of the person in the bed.  It was a very strange set up.  I used the other bathroom which had a hand held shower for my hair and ample hot water so all was good.  

Despite the issues we had a superb stay at Sherwood Hideaway and the pross well outweigh the cons.  I wish we were still there!

Lovely Dog Friendly Stay In Nature

Fantastic, excellent,relaxing

Amazingly peaceful

Lovely spacious lodge, modern decor throughout, and spacious deck with hot tub.
Has everything you need, and lovely and warm throughout from the underfloor heating.
En-suite rainfall shower was amazing, and television in sitting area had an array of channels and apps.

Park very close to Asda/Tesco which was handy, and a 5/10 minute drive to both Thoresby Hall and Rufford.

Reason for 4-star review is due to an array of small issues, which we felt shouldn’t have been there given the price we’d paid.

-Four poster bed was seriously noisy; every turn in the night woke us up, which wasn’t great for what was supposed to be a recharging getaway 

-Television in the main bedroom didn’t work- couldn’t control the volume or channel with the remote or at the side of the tv

-Bed linen was covered in what we think was make up stains. Wasn’t the best first impression when we walked in the bedroom as they were very visible 

Overall, a quiet getaway in a peaceful area of Nottinghamshire.

Quiet getaway, shame about the snags!

We’ve been to Sherwood Hideaway twice. Our first visit was back in April 2016. 

We stopped in cabin 20 which is a two bed, rustic, pet friendly cabin. 
It was well equipped with everything we needed. The hot water system broke on the morning of our third day, but they fixed it within a few hours. 

I found the emails from Hoeseasons to be somewhat odd. It didn’t appear the wording had been updated since 2020 as there was lots of information about COVID, “contactless” check-in / check-out and sanitising the keys to the cabin etc… 

We had a nice time and so did the dogs. It was nice to get the dogs away somewhere quiet over the bonfire night weekend.

Luxury in the forest Hideaway 

Beautiful location, so peaceful and quiet. We had a rustic woodland two bed dog friendly, and the backdrop looking out to the woods was so relaxing. Loved the hot tub, loved the calm, nice cabin and extremely clean!!  However  there were quite a few things needing maintenance (dishwasher didn’t wash, bath plug didn’t plug, blind wasn’t attached to wall..). For these reasons,  we didn’t think it’s quite  “luxury” but could easily be with some TLC.  Also be aware that there are a couple of inaccuracies in the website - you now cannot walk through the forest, and we didn’t have welcome wine as advertised.  Nothing major for us, but these things make it not quite meet the luxury holiday.
