Waggon & Horses

Good traditional pub favoured by locals. Good atmosphere with great and friendly service and everyone friendly. Not a hotel so no accommodation or food but well worth a visit. Bedale has 3 pubs (1 other is now closed) We tried them all but loved this one best.

The beer is nice and cheap . Staff are friendly . We are staying on a caravan site every weekend and we will use this pub every weekend too . As my wife was feeling a little cold the manager was very accommodating and made her a lovely warm cup of tea free of charge . Absolute gentleman.  

What a Lovely refurbishment they have done on this traditional pub. Open fires and dog friendly.  Beer garden with plenty of seating. The food is excellent for lunch or evening meals. A warm welcome to everyone. 

We spent an afternoon here whilst visiting Bedale and had a great time. 

The staff and locals were all so welcoming, they made us feel right at home. They had such a well stocked bar too for being a smaller pub and lots of great offers and deals.

It’s everything you would expect from a country pub, lots of wooden decor, amazing pieces of local history/art on the walls, racing and rugby on the TV, all round just a lush little place to enjoy some drinks.

This pub has a great atmosphere with friendly staff and regulars.
Excellent selection of beers.
Plenty of sport on TV and 'racing talk' with other like minded customers.
Beer/smoke garden at the back.

Love it.

Visited in December whilst staying with relatives . Busy local pub with a great range of drink offers . Cheap pool table . Plenty of local characters to chat with so nice atmosphere . Will definitely return

I have lived in Bedale most of my life and can honestly say the only thing going for this place is that the beer is cheap! You are judged and treated very poorly, and the clientele is much to be desired! The manager is rude and his people skills are very poor! Obviously no training in customer service and just playing at running a pub or trying to! Would avoid at all costs not a friendly place to be. Advice would be quit while you still have some custom!

Unfriendly pub

Having booked the hotel many months ago being the over night stop off for a charity bike ride only to receive a call to say this was now cancelled two weeks away from the date was disgusting.  When asked for an explanation the words I received were "tough sh1t"...  If this is the way they want to treat new customers then I hope their decision can be justified when they don't have any customer to treat badly.  Do yourself an favour and stay somewhere else.

Disgusting customer service - AVOID at all costs

I booked two rooms at the Waggon and Horses back in March through Booking.com. This was for a birthday trip for my daughter.  Three days ago I received a phonecall from the inn to say that our booking had been cancelled as the brewery wanted to close the place for refurbishment.  Given that this was only 5 days before our holiday, you can imagine how angry and disappointed we were.  Luckily I managed to find alternative accommodation, albeit more expensive. However, the Waggon and Horses had already taken payment out of my bank account the day before they cancelled my booking. Booking.com are working hard to get the money refunded, although the inn are saying they haven't received payment.  I have had to produce my bank statement showing the transaction but am still waiting for the refund. Booking.com have been very helpful in this matter but no marks to the Waggon and Horses for their appalling lack of customer care.

Appalling customer service

Stayed for 2nd time Thursday and Friday.  Last visit we were very pleased. This time what a mistake.
Arrived and waited around five minutes to even get a hello be with you asap.   Then told Chef on Honeymoon so no Breakfast till 9am.
 That in it's self was ok. Next morning were down at 9.04 for breakfast.  Eventually received our meal at 10.25.
No sorry no word whilst waiting   eventually as the other people staying went to ask. We're told were waiting on the sausages.  !  It does NOT take 1 1/2 hr to oven cook small sausages. 
The table was extremely sticky. The milk jug had a thick yellow glob in side where the top of the handle joined. Clearly not washed properly. 
. 2nd morning even after saying we had a long drive please can we have a faster breakfast and pre ordering as did the other people staying it still took 45 minutes. Food at best tepid.   And same dirty milk jug.then found a 1/2 used pat of butter in the butter dish.   Bed was ok. Bathroom grubby. Lots of dust visible on doors to under sink unit. The shower was mouldy  shower hose leaked and brown tape on over bath shower head.
Sign out side says under new management.   Well if this will be your normal standard you will fail very quickly.  Oh nearly forgot. Room not serviced so restocking of tea or coffee as far to busy!  Add In large trip hazard on stairs  
We regularly come up to visit my daughter but will not return again to this place. Not even a bye on leaving.
