I went with my cousin there for lunch today 10th May and what a slice of heaven it is.Scenery on approach  is something you only see on  an oil painting.The Sir Alfred Munnings is in the centre of this beauty.We were greeted by Andy who could not have made us feel more welcome he is a lovely lovely man.Mark the owner prepared a delicious  lunch  and it was perfect.Please check this slice of heaven out you will not be disappointed.

Another review of this delight in Mendham, a very convenient and pleasant village pub well situated for anyone working in the east of Suffolk/ Norfolk. Great breakfast, great host, pleasant atmosphere, good evening meals. Very good value for money.

I am a tradesman that travels a lot for work.
My stay at Sir Alfred Munnings Hotel was like a home away from home, in fact I have never been made to feel so welcome. 
Nothing but friendly faces and smiles. 
The food is top class. 
I will return for a meal or long weekend soon. 

I would recommend this place to anyone,

An amazing little hotel with lots of character, everything youu need and a full English to wake up to which is included in price staff are excellent....a little hidden gem.

A period room with beams, in a very peaceful hamlet.  Ideal for wonderful country walks along miles of marked paths, with the river Waveney forming a v. attractive and unspoilt landscape.  "Far From The Madding Crowd " (by Thomas Hardy) is the real ambience here.  VERY RARE, TO FIND SUCH A GEM.

A good night's sleep is assured in a characterful room with beams. Ideal for a walking holiday, as there are miles of wonderful footpaths all around. Beautiful scenery near a river.  There is really a "Far From The Madding Crowd" ambience in this unspoilt village.

Lovely quiet and pretty location. Superb staff provided a friendly welcoming service. Breakfasts very generous with lots of options. Good evening meal selection. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Would really recommend to others and would stay again ourselves.

Lunch at Sir Alfred Munnings Norfolk.

dinner b & b: the food was good, the staff are friendly ( a better experience than a pub/hotel chain) . whilst the décor is dated, it is of its time and not a modern pub trying to look like it has character (pretend books etc) we stayed as a stopover for the coast and it was good to be away from the crowds and much higher prices. Overall very good, not quite 5*

We loved the quietness of the area, the food was very good and good portions and the Staff were brilliant, Mark the owner works tirelessly and makes you very welcome, Andy one of the Barman was very friendly and helpful and could not do enough for you so we would like to thank him especially for making our stay brilliant, we will definitely go back, a big thank you for a lovely weekend 😁 Michael & Shell 👍

Staff were excellent. Dinner was top rate and breakfast just as good with generous portions.My room was clean and the bed was comfortable, water was hot and the shower worked very well.The only minus points were that my triple room was cramped even for two and the ensuite had no ventilation. However the good points made up for this.

You are greater with such a warm welcome. I had such a lovely clean room and nothing was too much bother for them you even offered fresh milk for your tea instead of those silly uht things. Even the food was so delicious and the breakfast is you certainly wouldn't leave hungry. I highly recommend it.

What a wonderful stay

We visited this morning for the santa breakfast and had an amazing time. 
The food was lovely, the welcome was warm and the santa was fab - the kids are still super excited and loved the singing! Definitely planning on coming next year 

In addition, it was a lovely touch finding out what the kids liked in advance so they could have a tailored gift, price was very reasonable too

Landlord Mark is very friendly and hard working as is Andy who was attentive and accomodating. The room was good value for the price charged and the bar and restaurant were clean and cosy. The food menu was quite extensive with plenty of choice. The Sunday lunch we chose was not quite to our liking as we like our roasts well cooked and crunchy potatoes, but not crunchy vegatables (aldente). Having said that, the breakfast is first rate and generous. Well worth travelling for and included in the room price if you are staying the night. Overall, an enjoyable stay with friendly staff and we would visit again if in the area.

Visit to Norfolk.

In the village of Mendham, 2 miles east of Harleston, Norfolk we easily found this quaint English pub. The publican was excellent and made us feel welcome, with the hotel having a nice atmosphere. Our room at the top of the stairs surprised us with a huge bed that was so comfortable.  The room was clean and quiet, with our bathroom having a good sized shower.  Breakfast was included with our 2 night stay and was excellent, with the coffee served being best we had throughout our UK visit.  We will definitely return to enjoy the atmosphere.  We were able to park outside the door, with additional free parking across the road in a bitumen carpark. 

What an enjoyable stay!

Whilst it is an old style English pub, our room (4) had a King size bed along good sized ensuite with walk-in shower. The wifi worked well and the TV though small had a good coverage of UK TV channels. Breakfast was made to order with our meal of both day were very good.  We thought it was the best coffee during our 2 nights stay that we have experienced in 4 weeks in the UK. Parking was outside the entrance or if busy, additional parking is available across the road in a newly bitumen car park. Looking forward for a return stay.
