Clare House Hotel

Clare House is a traditional  small hotel, with comfortable furnishings, excellent meals, and friendly staff. Many of the bedrooms have balconies looking over the beautiful garden and the bay beyond. This was our 2nd time staying at Clare House and we'll certainly keep coming back.

We went to Clare House today for Afternoon Tea with family for my parents Golden Wedding Celebration.
It was lovely and our waiter Christian was very helpful and friendly.  One nice thing was the re fill of Tea which you don't always get when out for Afternoon Tea.  The Chocolate Brownie was a highlight.  Highly recommend if you want a family get together. 


We have not stayed at Clare House but have been twice for dinner.
The hotel and grounds are very pleasant with fantastic views over the bay.
The dining room has a lovely atmosphere, the staff were very attentive and most importantly the meal was delicious.

Clean and comfortable accommodation, excellent food and pleasant accommodating staff made our 4 night stay here thoroughly enjoyable. The hotel is well situated only yards from the promenade and a 5 minute into the town. The views over the estuary from the balcony and from both lounges were wonderful. We certainly propose to return. 

Another great stay at Clare House.   Managed to convince 6 others to join me..... Stayed upstairs in the newer wing again.  Great bath and rain shower.  Usual room stuff you would expect at this high level.  Balcony very nice although it was a cold few days in October.  Lots of hot water and heating excellent.   FOOD!   One of my friends said the meal was the best he had ever had, his wife looked rather disapproving lol.   Dinner is a treat, great choices, great service and all starts with a wee "amuse" each night, gets yer juices flowing. TOP TIP Andrew, owner and Chef makes the most amazing tarts, whether its a starter, main or pudding so if you see one on the menu grab it you are in for a treat.   A wee bit annoying a kitchen can be that talented!  On the second night I had my favourite meat of all, Duck cooked pink.  Luscious glorious Gressinham perfectly cooked and presented, so fantastic so amazing just loved it, we all loved it.   Every ingredient here is the highest quality and the breakfast cranberry and apple sausage a personal favourite each morning.   I am so pleased the Hotel continues to be in pristine condition and redecorated every year many just do not keep up the investment in looking good.  New wine list is a great addition to the menu and we all agreed great value for money.   We  drank allot and at anytime of day lol.  Thank you everyone for all your efforts to make Clare House a top venue for hospitality.

Stopped in for lunch, we hadn’t booked but were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff, we ate outside over looking the very pleasant gardens and sea and I have to say the smoked haddock risotto was excellent, fish cooked to perfection. Lovely old school restaurant/ hotel would return for that haddock if I’m ever passing again.

Dropped in mid morning for brunch. Hadn’t booked and initially the lady on duty seemed slightly surprised by our presence and we were directed to a lounge rather than dining room. However, it was a quaint place to sit and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend the smoked haddock risotto, haddock cooked to perfection.
Would definitely recommend although should probably book so that they’re expecting you as I think it’s a family run business.

A friend and I stopped here for a light lunch a week ago. The food was lovely and service was good and friendly. The garden where we sat was nice and sunny and all the tables filled with satisfied customers.

My wife my mother, my aunty and myself stayed overnight at this delightful guesthouse. We thought the place was absolutely wonderful. It was exceptionally well kept, the food was superb and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We will almost certainly be returning for a weekend stay here as soon as the opportunity presents itself, can’t recommend enough.

Telephoned first to check availability for four of us to stop for morning coffee and a snack. The menu looked too tasty to resist the back bacon on homemade sesame roll followed by freshly baked scone with jam and cream. The hotel is picture perfect and we had a stroll around the gardens then a quick walk onto the promenade to watch the tide coming in to Morecambe Bay. We will definitely make Clare House a regular stopping place. As recently retired hoteliers we understand what goes into creating a wonderful ambience for the guests.  Thank you.

Stayed for 3 nights DB&B. Comfortable room with balcony overlooking Morecambe Bay. I'm not particularly a "foodie" but I have to say the food and service were excellent. A very refined hotel with lovely gardens and lots of parking. Definitely appeals to more "mature" guests. Ideal for a quiet, short break in the southern part of The Lakes.

We stayed for 4 nights at Clare House in Grange, choosing a room in the new block with a balcony and view of the estuary, so glad we did as the evening we arrived the weather was beautiful so we sat on the balcony and enjoyed the stunning views, just what we needed after a 5 hour drive from London! 
The food in the hotel was very good, evening meal very good value for money.
This is a family run hotel and a lot of the visitors have been coming back for years which is a good sign...
The style is very traditional and comfortable, I just found a few things could be upgraded to bring it up to the level they are aiming at ...
The gardens are lovely and a great place for mid morning coffee or afternoon tea!
Overall we had a lovely visit and would stay again if we needed to be in this area.

I booked afternoon tea for 18 people for my mum's birthday. When I contacted them they were very accomodating and friendly. The afternoon tea was lovely. It was definitely more on the sweet side, rather than savoury, but it was very filling and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We were very lucky and the sun came out so afterwards we could sit outside and have a couple of drinks while the children played on the lawn. It was a lovely afternoon for everyone.
