Nice hotel we had to leave at 5:15 to catch the ferry at 6 and the proprietor was extremely helpful and got up early to make sure we had cereal tea and coffee at 5am even though he didn’t have too will come back again.

We stayed here for a night during a quick trip to Portsmouth.  We received a warm welcome and were happy with our room.  Parking and WiFi were good and our dog was comfy and welcomed too.  Advice regarding local eats ans amenities from the very friendly staff. 

The following morning we had a lovely breakfast  and again the staff were excellent.

When l arrived and viewed the hotel from the outside, l wanted to turn round and find somewhere else, it looked run down and shabby but it was late so checked into the room. To my pleasant surprise the interior had undergone some improvements. My room was quite large under UK standards and my ensuite was huge and very nice tiled and appointed. The room still needed some furniture updating, the bed was comfy and i thought quite clean. The next morning's full English breakfast was quite good and set me up well for the day.... Initially, i was a rad disappointed  with the hotel's outside appearance but warmed a bit as l settled in...

The interior was better than the exterior

As you approach you might be put off, it looks put of place an abandoned. There is no front door and you are welcomed by a group of smokers at the fire exit. Friendly bunch of people but honestly just wanted a hotel and didn't need a conversation everytime I left. Once inside it looks and feels like an old pub, however dont be fooled the pub is closed looks like it has been closed a while and not due to covid.
Up the little stair case and along the corridor to the room I was given first, when getting to the door I realised it was unlocked okay no problem, inside the room was okay it needs decorating and cleaning as I found a old broken hair band on the floor so not really sure how well it qas cleaned, shower didnt work. Then I got moved into another room which was awful, small bed not made poor small shower. After i had been out I was offered yet another room, which I took bathroom was nice and big shower was alright bed was okay (had to nick pillows out of the first room as only received one each, remember the room was unlocked). Unfortunately even with this room I'm not sure it had seen a hover, needs redecorating windows need updating as you can hear the cars all night, blinds need replacing as its bent and no bin. 
Feel let down that i paid £69 for this and was supposed to include breakfast. I have given this place around 2 weeks to reply after calling and emailing several times however I keep getting palmed off, disappointed 😞

Well, I'm going to be totally honest as I always try to be on here!! My partner booked the Ferry House Lodge B & B as a handy base while we visited his student Daughter! First impressions Grim!! First thoughts drive on past!! But the pictures on the website were lovely so we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt !! We were greet

As  a location for an early start for the cross channel ferry this is excellent. However, it is in serious need of refurbishment and certainly the room which we occupied had a distinctly damp feel to it. It is also not very conveniently located for local restaurants - there are options within walking distances but we certainly would not have walked back in the dark.
The reception was quick and efficient and an early breakfast was also offered.
I doubt if we would stay there again but for quick and easy access to the ferry terminals this takes some beating.

Ferry convenient!

Warm welcome. Not a bad room but very basic with very little hot water on the evening but a noticeable improvement in morning. The "double" bed was probably just three-quarters. Limited storage space but to be fair we didn't need it.
Breakfast very acceptable if not much choice (full Portsmouth or tea and toasted).

Unfortunately the Ferry Lodge needs investment. With the excellent location ten minutes from the port it deserves it.

Good for ferry port

Stay here if walking to or from the ferry is your only option. Looks much nicer in their photos online. Traffic is noisy (but like white noise). It’s a less than nice part of town but does the trick for a quick one-nighter. I don’t think a very good crowd frequent the Ferry House as we found used, unmarked canisters (for huffing?) under the bed! Yuk! As always, immediately took off all non-white blankets from the bed. One had burn holes but luckily the place did not smell of cigarettes. Staff were really nice and accommodating. 

Friendly but sketchy

Supposed to be staying there this weekend for the Goodwood Festival of Speed event, luckily I called in advance to ask about Taxis and the chap on the phone informed me they were shut. I called a few weeks ago to talk about places to eat to book and he never mentioned then that they were shut.

Luckily booking.com honored the price on another property nearby. 
Looks like we got a lucky escape based on the reviews on here!

THIS HOTEL IS CLOSED

This was the worst place i have ever been to !!!! the guy that let me in was friendly enough but smelt strongly of booze ... I was offered two rooms and went with the smaller of the two as the man informed me its cold and noisy in the big room and was just as cold and noisy in the smaller room which didnt even lock !!! I am a single young woman in a room that doesn't even lock .... I was asked to use the back exit when coming and going and was crowded with shady men all the time .... its was filthy dirty and had never seen a Hoover or a duster ... does NOT look anything like the pictures at all .... I'm certain there was prostitutes coming and going..  all sorts under the bed .... This place NEEDS to be shut down immediately I left after only 10 minutes as I felt so unsafe and disgusted and I've not stopped itching since being there I only sat on the bed for 2 minutes before I got my things and went to the travel lodge ... I was genuinely concerned for my safety here and my health ... I will be requesting a full refund although I doubt I'll have any luck ... I dont normally review but I want to warn others to not go anywhere near ... also says breakfast included which I dont think there is and i wouldn't eat there even if I was paid !!!! stay well clear ....

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING IM APPALLED

Upon arrival the hotel looked derelict, we was taken to room number 8 at the front of the property - carpets appeared like they hadn’t been hoovered in a long time, lots of dust on skirting boards and window ledges, chewing gum on floor, headboard thick with dust, mattress very badly stained, chair badly stained, bathroom full of limescale, tap came off in my hand, hairs in bath, and on toilet seat and washbasin, ironing board badly stained.
Due to extremely poor levels of hygiene and cleanliness especially during the covid pandemic we decided to book a hotel room elsewhere after 15 mins in the property. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in many throughout the Middle East, Africa and Asia and never walked away from a property before.

This place is in desperate need of refurb , it was dirty & run down . It says you get breakfast but it’s not available but to be fair I wouldn’t have eaten there anyway . When we arrived the toilet seat was broken so we reported it straight away , 2 days later still not fixed . Didn’t see. A cleaner & nobody went into the room to replenish as we had to ask for a  toilet roll . Got the impression it was best suited for rent by the hour . Tripadvisor your rating is way off .
