Taldrwst Farmhouse

I was the sole guest at Taldrwst Farm on a Friday night in late September. I wasn't aware of this fact until I arrived, and it did much to explain why they were unable to accommodate my request from the previous day to have dinner there on the evening of my stay. Initially the thought of being alone in an old rural farmhouse was a scary prospect, but owner Louise's friendly demeanor and the loveliness of the room went a long way towards allaying those fears. She was also very responsive via e-mail after hours when I had preliminary concerns about the common area lights and room heating (both of which turned out to be no problem at all). Location-wise it very much feels as if you're in the middle of nowhere (the stars on a clear night are stunning), but in fact there are a number of restaurants and pubs less than a 15 minute drive in either direction, one of which I utilized on the night the Taldrwst kitchen was closed. The house does not have terrestrial TV channels, but my room was equipped with a smart TV that had plenty of streaming options. Louise prepared a very tasty breakfast for me in the morning, several items of which I had pre-selected at check-in. There are numbered parking bays in front of the house for each guest's vehicle. I'm usually notoriously picky in my reviews and think of at least one thing I wish was better, but in this case it really was a pretty perfect experience.
