The Captain's House

We stayed for three nights at The Captains House this week. The house is very clean and  comfortable with beautifully appointed bedrooms and en suite bathrooms. The kitchen is well stocked with a cooker, microwave and dishwasher. 
The house is in a quiet street but perfectly located to explore Dartmouth with the town centre a five minute walk. 
I stayed here with my family and two young grandchildren and we had a wonderful stay. 

We had the good fortune to spend a week in Dartmouth staying at The Captain's House. 
The location is extremely convenient being some 5 to 10 minutes walk from the restaurants, bars etc. There are even a couple of pubs within a couple of minutes walk if you don't fancy the exercise.
The house itself is a spacious property, well appointed and immaculately presented. On arrival, we found that the heating had been timed to come on so it was pleasantly warm when we stepped through the door.
When booking, I was a little concerned about the car parking facilities as it consisted of a marked space in a car park. I was worried that I would find someone using it and not being able to park myself. That proved to not be a problem as the space is in a private car park just a few minutes walk from the house.

A lovely location to stay hidden away in a back street just off the front. Our room was small but always clean and tidy and with a comfortable bed. Parking is via a supplied pass in a reserved space so no worries about finding a space when you’ve been for a drive, the car park is just a few minutes walk but you can drop off / pickup in front of the hotel. This is a room only location but there are plenty of locations to find a breakfast from. Will definitely visit again. 

A friend and I stayed for four nights in mid October.  It was everything that we hoped for with a valuable parking permit - all right in the centre of Dartmouth.  There are plenty of places in Dartmouth a short walk away to have breakfast and so much thought has gone into making the room completely Covid free - clean as a new pin with every last detail thought through.  It is quiet and cosy and the most amazing place to stay for a quality break away from home.  There are stairs inside and steps up from the car park so you have to be fairly fit to stay here, but I can't fault it - plenty of hot water too! Try it - you won't be disappointed.

I can't fault The Captain's House.  These are extraordinary times and my goodness have they put measures in place.  I felt really safe and secure, something that is missing in daily life for us at  the moment.

The house is in a fabulous location right near the front and the parking permit is an absolute godsend - you won't park anywhere without it in Dartmouth - it always seems to be chocka block!  The house is a short walk away, HOWEVER if you have dicky legs like we do, the steps are a nightmare (although you can walk the long way round) as are the stairs inside, so book a downstairs room if you are a bit wobbly!

The bed is comfy, the street is quiet, the room modern and clear (I hate knickknacks!) and everything to do with Covid has been thought of.  For example - a towel exchange in a wipe-clean bag, remote control inside a sealed baggy, cleaning supplies, key fobs (although we never did manage to get ours to work!) for the front door and hand gel in the room and by the front door.  

There is no room servicing at the moment for obvious reasons, however I always felt that I could contact the owners straight away if I needed to, and we did, as my husband became ill and we had to leave early.

(My only negative (about which you can do absolutely nothing!) is that you can't stop outside the house to get a disabled person out of the car without risking blocking the whole road and irritating another driver - it isn't one way but could benefit from it  - so you have to do everything in a rush).

I would thoroughly recommend The Captain's House as a base from which to explore - locally or further afield and there is even an M&S Foodhall just round the corner for picnic supplies before you go out for the day!

Booked through booking.com lovely town house very close to harbour. Hosts welcomed us on arrival which was helpful four of us travelling so booked two rooms clean & tidy couldn’t ask for more would recommend this accommodation when visiting Dartmouth when you only need room only.

Comfortable and clean accommodation in a quiet location close to the heart of Dartmouth. The fridge and parking permit are brilliant extras. Steep flights of stairs to the upper floors so maybe not for the mobility challenged! I'd definitely stay here again if returning to the area.

Very high standard of accomm, ground floor lounge with wood burning stove for chilly evenings!  No breakfasts provided but this was fine as there is a waterside al fresco bar a few yards down the street.  This place is very conveniently located on a quiet backwater.   Very quaint old house.

We have just spent 4 nights at the Captains House for our sons Navy Pass Out. The accommodation is so clean and everything is provided. Thanks again for making a fantastic week perfect! Rooms were cleaned daily, tea and coffee making facilities were also replenished daily.

Last week I returned from a few nights stay at The Captains House in Dartmouth. It exceeded all my expectations. 
Rob and Sheila were so helpful both during my stay and with the comprehensive checking in details they sent prior to my visit. 
The property is very convenient both for the town centre and the parking spots which are two minutes walk. 
I was lucky enough to be upgraded and my room was a delight. It had a very comfortable king size bed, and was beautifully furnished. There was a very useful fridge which had been stocked with fresh milk and water and pretty fresh flowers in the room. 
The bathroom was well equipped with both shower and bath and plenty of towels and toiletries. 
Downstairs is a very welcoming lounge with more fresh flowers and a tray of sherry - a nice touch! 
Being a middle aged lady travelling alone , security is always an issue but here I felt perfectly safe. The front door is only accessible via a coded personal key fob. 
Being room only accommodation is not a problem as there is a Marks and Spencer foodhall two minutes away ( and a very useful little picnic set in the room), also many excellent eateries close by serving typical Devon breakfasts. 
I will definitely be returning to The Captains House!

A Hidden Treasure

My wife and I are on our second visit to Dartmouth in four years. We love it so much and  can  highly recommend The Captain's House for the perfect holiday accommodation. It is only  a few minutes walk from the town centre. The  accommodation is absolutely first class and the owners are  a really nice  helpful friendly couple.

The best holiday setting.

Great location, simple check in, lovely large room with great bathroom and the benefit of reserved parking. So nice to choose where and when to go for breakfast! Recommend Alf Resco's for great value and fun breakfast, and the Anzac Bistro for an evening meal. The owner was a really pleasant guy, but the directions and info they sent beforehand was so good we really didn't need to meet them. Highly recommended.
