What a location, such history, wonderful owner. We arrived around 4:30, were warmly welcomed and then discovered the history. This place is all that is good about giving back to the countryside and community. We ate very well in the evening (local meat, Whitby scampi), slept deeply and had a lovely breakfast. Saw golden plover, red grouse, many lapsing and a meadow pipit. Thank you Lorraine for your wonderful hospitality.

Popped in for home made scones, flapjacks and coffee on a chilly day during our Sea to Sea cycle. Fire lit dining room greatly appreciated! Staff great and lovely to talk to the owner. Thank you for the swimming trunks recommendation! Next time we will we stay overnight.

This is the most excellent place to stay. The host is very very nice. She cooked a meal for me as i was the only guest. The meal was all fresh made. She put in the stove for me and i felt like an guest how a real guest should feel. 
The guesthouse is in the most beautiful and relaxed place one can think of. 

My husband and I stayed at the Parkhead Station House, at the end of our 2nd day of the C2C, with my parents who were our support team! A fantastic warm welcome awaited us all and we were shown to spotless bedrooms, comfortable beds, tea and coffee plus a powerful shower. Dinner was pre ordered from a locally sourced menu and was delicious, breakfast was the same and much appreciated before the final day of cycling. The Station House is at the top of the Crawleyside Bank climb, and though tough at the end of day 2, is a place to recharge and almost celebrate as it is all down hill on day 3! A gem of a place and would highly recommend and thank you to Lorraine and Louise who made us feel so welcome.

The Parkhead was built specifically for cyclists on the second night of their C2C ride, and what a gem. Modern accommodation; terrific warm showers, comforty beds and delicious food for dinner. For weary riders this place is an oasis.

Loved the place, great to hear about the history. Owners very Covid conscious. Food spot on and service good too.
Secure storage for bikes.

I stayed for two nights while cycling in the area on Durhams disused railways. I had previously had great lunches here but didnt realise it was a B&B until planning my trip.  Its a lovely old building with loads of dark wood & beams but is quite remote but this gives great views, weather permitting. Once inside the welcome is very warm. Great hosts.
Despite still having some restrictions on menu the food was great, homemade soup excellent (had it both nights) and rhubarb crumble and custard, mmmmmm.

Stayed at Parkhead Station for one night on C2C stopover.
Guests should be aware that this is a no frills accommodation - no WiFi, and very bad phone signal.
Owners are also still very Covid cautious, so expect to wear masks in all communal areas, and have your temperature taken on entry.  This is their right and should be respected.  It does mean you can't sit downstairs unless it's outside.

The B&B stands on it's own so you do need to pre-book an evening meal (6.30pm is latest sitting).  Food was hearty and excellent and service very friendly (although made us laugh that waitress didn't wear a mask after the copious safety precautious).
Room was small, but perfectly adequate with nice shower en suite and great views.
We stayed in Waskerley and even manged to get mobile data, which we couldn't elsewhere in the building.
Breakfast had to be chosen the night before - no cereal etc (suspect for Covid reasons), but cooked breakfast was more than enough.
Very warm welcome and really good stay.
Would definitely recommend and would return.

I cannot recommend staying here highly enough! From the minute I arrive I felt incredibly welcome. Lorraine was the warmest and friendliest of hosts. Unfortunately my Mum had been forced to drop out of the ride due to injury and Lorraine went out of her way to make be feel at ease despite this. I wasn't keen on eating in the restaurant area alone so she prepared me a meal for my room. Incredibly kind! The room has wooden floor and doors which gives a lovely feel. The shower was warm and the room spotlessly clean. The views are astounding too! 
Breakfast was home made and tasted fab! 
Highly, highly recommend!!

From the moment we stepped in the building we were made to feel welcome , we were showed through to the most cosy of dining room with a beautiful fire on! 
We had mince and dumpling and I had beef sandwich both gorgeous followed by double chocolate cake . 
Terry and Lorraine made us so welcome we were there for a long time . Credit to you two , you both do an excellent job , will defo be returning

We arrived here after a very wet and chilly ride across the moors from Consett, and were given a warm and friendly welcome. The café has a full menu for food and drinks and is in a position that offers great views out across the moors. The husband and wife owners are friendly and welcoming and go out of their way to help you.  We were out cycling but walkers and motorcyclists are very welcome here too at what is a unique and charming venue - not to be missed.

Not only can you pop in for a cup of coffee or tea with a magnificent scone you can also have a great home cooked Sunday Lunch here....or you can go one step further and do as we did, and have your wedding party there! Lorraine and Terry , Terri and James could not do enough for us, their attention to detail was super. The buffet was all home made and looked splendid. All of our guests were most complimentary on the quality and  warm hospitality. We were only around 20 people but I would imagine 30 would  feel equally comfortable; there's space to eat, space to relax on two huge sofas and most importantly space to dance. An added convenience is the fact that there is accommodation too. Clean, comfortable, bright and airy rooms with breathtaking views over the moor.  The ideal place for a family party!

What a lovely place set out on the Dale serving great food in relaxed friendly surroundings. The rooms are clean and characterful, the beds incredibly comfortable, the cooked breakfast pretty damn good and the hospitality second to none. 

Parkhead Station is a unique place with a genuine feel good factor. 

A great to place to base yourself or merely to partake of the home cooked fayre when passing through.
