The Salmon Leap

First time ever staying in Sleights and indeed the Salmon Leap Hotel. Very efficient and friendly staff,lovely breakfast and will do it to your liking. Our room was compact but plenty large enough. A lovely shower which was very clean (as was the rest of our room) Super beer garden at the rear looking over the railway and woodland. Hope to return next summer 😊

We spent a couple of great days in Whitby and stay here, the room was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished and spacious, the hosts were very helpful and professional breakfast was very tasty buses into Whitby were very half hour and there is also a train

Fancy a stay just outside Whitby with direct access to transport you cannot go wrong. Great location. Lovely clean room, lovely breakfast, Sean only too willing to help with anything. Great stay happy to return

Stopped in this hotel two days inApril.I cannot fault anything and Trisha and Sean are very welcoming. 
Cleanliness was superb as was the view from the massive windows in room 1.
I would definitely recommend a stop here.
Very handy for Whitby and the North Yorkshire  moors railway which passes by the hotel.

Enjoyed a lovely evening here with family. The steak pies were amazing as usual, enjoyed by us all. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks were reasonably priced too. See you again soon,thankyou all

We went in for a drink on our first night and asked Shaun and Trisha if there was any takeaways in the area, Shaun came over with some info but after a while we still couldn't find anywhere that was open, Shaun very kindly offered to rustle us something up, and omg what a monster of a meal and so tasty.  We ended up eating and drinking there for the rest of our stay, each meal we had can only be described as a Desperate Dan meal and so delicious and such good value for money.  We all agreed that Shaun and Trisha have got to be the nicest people and the most amazing hospitable hosts, we'd highly recommend going here.  We'll be going back at some point in 2022 but this time we'll be staying in their hotel.

Phoned direct and booked a room for the next day, for 2 nights.
The Salmon Leap is just 3 miles from Whitby, with other beautiful coastal and rural attractions nearby.  Sleights railway station and a bus stop are just shorts walks away from the hotel.
Sean and Trish were lovely hosts and provided good accommodation and food.  Their breakfast will fill you up, and the pub grub is good quality and reasonably priced.  It was nice to have a meal and drink and be just a short walk from our room.

Booked a 3 day break at the Salmon Leap and we were well pleased. We booked the ground floor rear room overlooking the gardens and the railway line of which the Whitby to Pickering Steam train runs. The room was large with 3 large windows to 3 aspects, large wardrobe and plenty of drawers in the bedside units. A large double bed, leather settee, wall mounted TV and complimentary tea & coffee completed the room. A good modern shower was in the en suite. All areas of the rooms were spotless.
Breakfasts were included, combinations of English breakfasts, cereals, toast, tea, coffee and orange juice all served with a smile. The bar was welcoming and very reasonable in prices, especially comparing them with the South where we are from!
If we are to visit this part of the world again we wouldn’t look anywhere else. We were made to feel welcome from the time we arrived to the moment we left. The hotel is a credit to Sean,Tricia  and their staff.
Unfortunately we went on to a Travelodge outside York for a couple of days and this wasn’t a patch on The Salmon Leap.

We as a family dined hear twice during our two week break The Steak Pie was delicious with lovely Puff Pastry top and really meaty steak pieces done in rich gravy My wife had Lamb Shank and it was lovely as well 

I am back here now for the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Gala and once again have dined in this establishment and was not disappointed well recommended 

A great welcome is given as well.

We wasn’t staying in the hotel but we went in for a drink and food.

Absolutely fantastic and cannot fault anything. The lamb shanks were delicious and everything a pub meal should be. The service was friendly and over and above.

Great stay

Good value hotel in a perfect location. The room was immaculate and very spacious, nice beer garden and Sean's breakfasts were lovely.
Bus stop and train station very close(both 2mins) and the park and ride only a 5min drive for anyone who wants to go into Whitby. Sean's very helpful and has created a nice friendly atmosphere within the hotel. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return

Perfect Location!!!

Called in here as staying locally.
100 yards down the road.
Pub opens at 5pm so lost out on a lot of business during the afternoon from us.
Good selection of whiskey,gin and vodka.
Not a massive selection of lagers and draft beers.
Food was very good and chips were amazing.

Was missing a TV for the international matches but then again it’s not classed as a sports bar.

Would visit again in summer time as garden looks very nice.

The cheapest stay available for a last minute break during half-term, booking direct on the hotel's website... and a very pleasant surprise! Rooms airy, clean and modern but with a homely feel. Modern bathroom with powerful, hot shower.  We had 2 rooms and even what was described as a small double was more than adequate.  A freshly cooked full english breakfast was included in the price, with a choice of cereals and toast too.
Large lawned area outside was a real sun-trap in the afternoon, where you can watch the NYMR trains pass by. Despite this we weren't woken by trains or the cockerel mentioned! 
We made the 10-15 minute drive to Grosmont to ride by steam train to Goathland, and in similar time we reached the coast to explore Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay.  Lots to do and see in the surrounding area.

Our food was well worth the money

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a lovely time. I can only concur with the other recent reviews. The hotel is very clean and covid-compliant. Our room was delightful and our hosts really friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious and set you up for the day and the evening menu, although not extensive, was well-thought out and delicious. The grounds are nice to sit  out in and they catch the evening sun (just right for a prosecco and a beer). The hotel is very conveniently placed for both the train (NYMR) and the bus into Whitby. We made a late booking and think ourselves very fortunate to have found this place.
