We love this pub! We went with the children and unfortunately there was a long wait for food. When I say long, I mean over an hour (usually it's  never been longer than 15 mins for us). However, the service was great and they very kindly gifted us a child's meal due to the waiting times. 

Our food was amazing, I particularly enjoyed the deep filled club chicken ciabatta with soup of the day, which was fished chowder. This soup was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life! 

Do go there, everything is delicious including the Sunday roasts. Make sure to book to avoid any disappointment.  

When we arrived at The Brewery Tap we went into the bar to get the keys. We were greeted by a friendly person who took us outside through another door into the room area. This was such a surprise. We had the most fantastic and large room with large ensuite. It was very clean and had a very comfortable bed and bedding together with two easy chairs. When you were in the room, you were not bothered by any activity in the pub or garden.
Would we stay again......certainly!

Located on the far side of town this venue is well worth staying at if you’re in the area. Our room was on the third floor (two flights of stairs) and was very spacious, smart and well decorated. The venue is adjacent to a major road so you have to accept the traffic noise which starts early in the morning. 8888. The guy who checked us in was very friendly and helpful and our bags had already been taken to the room for us. Breakfast was a self-service buffet located on the 2nd floor with lots of items to choose from but had then to be taken to the room (or outside) to be consumed. If you do go outside remember to take your key to the door at the bottom of the stairs (situated off the courtyard) as it’s self-locking. As we were walking part of the Thames path the venue kindly agreed to take delivery and pass on our bags to the baggage transfer company (so a very big thanks).We also ate at the bar downstairs later that evening and as its name suggests it has a great choice of real ales to choose from. The food was also very good and reasonably priced, portion sizes are also generous. The bar staff were great, very friendly and helpful in explaining the beers and food choices. It seemed very popular with the locals and was very busy whilst we were there which is always a good sign.

Travelled up from Devon to surprise a family member (40th birthday). This accommodation is perfect if your looking for some where to stay on the high street.Rooms were very spacious and clean and the staff were very friendly.

We would certainly book again.

Still the best Sunday lunch pub that I know of. Good service and the lunches themselves are generous and delicious. Roast beef was several slices of good quality meat accompanied by swede, cauli cheese, broccoli, maple carrots and roasties and slathered in gravy. (And horseradish slaw, which was nice, but can we not have old school horseradish sauce?). Too full ater all that for dessert, but top marks to the pub for being able to produce a decent cup of tea afterwards, using a small pot so that you don't end up with a weak brew unlike most places.  

Large room--very clean and well-appointed; great food and selection of beer and ciders in the pub. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations for a day trip to Oxford.  Loved the atmosphere. While the breakfast is "self-serve," the choices were many including cheeses and meat as well as standard breakfast fare. Quantities were generous---It was as good, if not better than many breakfast buffets I have encountered in the UK

Six of us ate here, a family get together, so we took a while to make our choices. The pub was very busy with diners and drinkers so we had to wait awhile for the food to be served.  It was worth the wait as the food was delicious.  All the pie meals were good, a tasty salmon salad, a decent steak too and the platter meal was also very good.  Mains were generous so could only manage to share desserts, but these were also tasty.

Each time I visit this pub it does not disappoint. The staff are friendly and very welcoming, the food is brilliant, especially the pies. Worth booking in advance if going over a weekend.  I would highly recommend this place for both food and drink.

I had the most wonderful stay here! Was greeted warmly from the car park & was delighted to grab the last space. Was shown to my room which was spacious with mini toiletries, comfy bed & flat screen tv. 

The pub downstairs was packed & buzzing on an early Saturday evening but the lovely staff made me feel so welcome & found me a table for dinner before helpfully directing me to where I was heading next. The waitress was 100% good service and yummy food … the atmosphere fun and welcoming.

In the morning, the housekeeping lady was so eager to please, offering extra towels and making sure I had enough breakfast. 

The self-service coffee machine & continental picnic-style breakfast was just right for me in flight mode on my way home. Really sweet place, full of character and every member of staff were just perfect. Highly recommended. 😀

We dined as a family of eight at the end of February 2022. I would have thought that booking is essential as we were politely advised that they would like the table back at three p.m.

We had decided to pre-order our meals which meant that service was prompt, this was fortuitous as we had two infant children in our company who were very very hungry.

We were looked after by the wonderful Flora, nothing, and I mean nothing, was too much trouble for her. 

The food was five stars all day long, generous slices of pork or beef, crunchy roast potatoes, roast carrots in maple syrup. The Yourshires were the size of Zeppelins. lashing of gravy and top quality service made this a wonderful experience.

I forgot to mention the real ale selection and fantastic wines.

Delicious food, attentive service 

A Hidden Gem

I stopped in for a couple of pints of beer on a Thursday night. I have heard that there is good music at the weekend and a lively quiz on a Tuesday but I was pleased for a little peace and quiet. I saw a wide selection of beers on draught but for the life of me couldn't work out what they were from my position at the bar. A good deal of bottle choices in the fridges too but again I couldn't see what was what. I feel there is a great impatience with bar staff who expect a customer to arrive at an unknown pub to immediately know what they want. My feedback would be to appreciate that a customer is seeing what is available and give them time to select something. Subsequently when I left I noticed that some of the beers are listed by the bar but it wasn't obvious to me when I ordered my drinks. There were many populated tables and those eating seemed to enjoy their food. It certainly looked and smelt good from my point of view. Staff were friendly and hooray for collecting glasses and wiping down tables promptly. I shall visit again but please do assist me with a beer menu in clear print. M Fenton Aug 2023

What a wonderful Sunday lunch experience

What a beautiful, spacious room with a great bathroom too! Such a shame we only stayed for one night. 
The new Year's Eve party was great fun and good value for money. The supper was delicious and the bar staff were cheerful.
I would happily return and try out the normal menu. I would prefer it if breakfast would be served in the pub, instead of help your self to items from fridge and eat in your room. Also note, that the car park only has a few spaces, but we found some free parking nearby.
