Kamalaya Koh Samui

We are unfortunately nearing the end of our first stay at this very special and unique place. It has exceeded our expectations in every way! Kamalaya provides a superb experience in every dimension from the extraordinary food to the incredibly comprehensive, top quality wellness offerings to the stunning setting and all curated by the most brilliant team of staff you could ever wish for. Service is provided in an INSTANT every single time you make a request, and always with the broadest of smiles. I’ve stayed at some great hotels around the world but have never experienced anything like this level of service. I particularly loved the fact that it always felt as if I was amongst like minded people who seem to all be here for the same reason and always show respect to each other. It seems that a large number of the guests are returning visitors (we learned about Kamalaya from friends who return regularly). I was actually a little envious of the singles who chose to eat at the communal table watching them having so much fun meeting new people from all over the world. And yet at the same time without disturbing the individuals or couples dining nearby. In making their recommendation our friends told us that Kamalaya is not necessarily for everyone. It is not 6 star opulence by any means, nor does it strive to be that. To me it is much more special than anything an upmarket resort could provide because of its authenticity and total lack of pretentiousness and the sacred space that the founders have created as well as the fact that everyone who comes here very quickly gets that! Everything just flows beautifully in sync with nature and with each other. (When you’re here be sure to visit the monk cave which is Kamalaya’s heart). I leave having reset my spiritual compass and with a new resolve to eat more mindfully and to start practicing mediation, yoga and mindfulness more frequently, something that I haven’t felt inclined to do for awhile. Whilst every single staff member is a joy to interact with and we loved them all, I have to single out one of the assistant managers, Lita, who really enhanced our stay tremendously by going above and beyond in looking after us. Nothing is too much trouble for her and we cannot thank her enough for what she did for us. Khap Khun Mak Krab Khun Lita! (Chai at the beach is also a breath of fresh air). We will definitely be returning soon to Kamalaya. I can see it becoming a regular place of refuge, reset and renewal for us.
