My finacee and I booked this location for my trip to Yilan in Sept/Oct 2016 without any thoughts other than it was less pricey than other accommodations I have looked at. When we got there, we were greeted by the friendliest lady there who provided ideas and places to go for sight-seeing. She also allowed us to borrow their bikes to bike around the rice fields that surrounds the area, and we also biked to various tourist attractions. It was FANTASTIC. The breakfast was home-made and since we stayed multiple days, we were able to experience different ones. On one of the day, she made us traditional style chinese congee with side dishes, and it was amazing. One of the side dish was actually made with vegetables that was grown by her next door neighbour! The location might be a little out of nowhere, but that's mostly the case with wherever you stay at Yilan and you can always call a taxi to travel (taxi fares are not that expensive).
