After a long and stressful train journey I wasn’t in the best mood when I arrived at this hotel. I was greeted with a glass of cold water a cool damp face towel and some very friendly staff. All my negative emotions melted away. When I saw my room my whole day turned into one of delight. I stayed in an upper floor room with views over the river towards the old town. It was magical. The room itself was clean and elegant. Windows that open are always welcome, more so when the view is so great. The bed was comfortable, the shower clean an and easy to use. The room service choice was limited but was delicious. Breakfast downstairs, with a choice to sit on the terrace overlooking the river was of good quality. There was a good buffet selection including some wonderful bread rolls (but no toast) plus the option of a la carte hot dishes. The best breakfast of my European holiday so far. I may never go back to Zurich, but if I did this would be my first choice.
