Ella Retreat is a small, hillside resort of about 4 or 5 units ranging from small villas to glamping tents. The villa had a lovely outdoor decking area with hammock. The tent, an outdoor bathroom and fabulous views of the waterfall.The rooms are clean and tidy but do expect insects ( and monkeys) as the resort is in the jungle.The staff are v friendly and you can pre order food to eat at your villa.Not suitable if you have mobility issues as the resort is built into the steep hillside.You can walk down the slope to the nearest waterfall but Ella itself is not really walking distance.You must arrive by tuk tuk as cars cannot get up the narrow, steep track .Transfer to the train station was complimentary and much appreciated.Would stay again.

Small, friendly resort.

This was my favorite place to stay in Sri Lanka! I wish I had booked more nights there. I stayed in the glamping tent, with fabulous views of a waterfall. The tent room was large and comfortable with a large outdoor deck. It had everything I needed - mini fridge, teapot, fan, rain gear. The WiFi was excellent. But the best part was the staff- all so kind and helpful. All meals were absolutely delicious!

Highlight of our trip in Sri Lanka. We stayed in the romantic tent which has the view to waterfalls and it was amazing. The facilities were just like in pictures and everything was clean and well maintained. You also have all the necessities you need in the tent (minibar, slippers, hairdryer).However the best part was still the staff. They are there for you from the moment you arrive and you can reach them anytime via whatsapp whenever you need more drinks, tuktuk, food or anything.The breakfast is brought to your tent every morning according to your wishes and lunch/dinner is also available. Everything was delicious and freshly made for you and you get to eat your meals in terrace with the views.All in all it was such an amazing place and would highly recommend to anyone who wants to be in the nature but still 5-star-worthy served. Nothing to complain.

Unique and wonderful experience

We had an amazing stay here as our last stop on a one week road trip.  It was the perfect way to end our trip - the room was cute and very clean, the pool deck was fun for a few beer and the dinner was delicious (we ordered the curry).  And the view… wow! Words can’t describe how beautiful!

Beautiful way to end our trip

Our stay at Zion View Ella was amazing! The location was perfect, in town near all restaurants and cafes, yes you do have to walk up a hill but it’s not very long and really easy to do. The view was beautiful, the rooms super clean, and facilities extremely well maintained. Our kids in particular loved the kids play area and swimming pool. We loved it so much that we’re going back again next week!!

Best place to stay in Ella

This is honestly the most amazing place ever! The view is stunning and there's a pool that looks out over the mountains and through the valley. The rooms were very nice and I loved the hammock out on the balcony. The staff were super friendly and they even booked a tuk tuk for us. I highly recommend this place!

Amazing view!

Amazing hospitality..everyones so nice. Wonderful service. Great scenery to view via rooftops. Great food. Room quality is top notch. The location of the hotel is also a perfect midpoint between all the attractions that can be viewed in Ella. Anything else to be said is all positives :)

A must pick hotel for your Ella experience

Fantastic service and one of the best views I’ve seen. The staff were all so helpful and if you’re travelling in a group I would really recommend the apartment with 3 double rooms and a large private balcony. Food was delicious and the pool was wonderful after a day of sightseeing. 

2 day stay

This is a beautiful and scenic resort, The staff are very courteous and friendly, especially Dayalan, Ashantha and Bhatiya ensured that our stay was comfortable. The complimentary breakfast provided was excellent. The resort is ideal for families. Will not hesitate to revisit this resort on my next vacation and would recommend this place to anyone planning a trip to Ella

Memorable stay

This place was clean, with great views and most importantly outstanding staff.
They were friendly and professional.
They help with food preferences local tours places to visit etc.
The food was hygienic and pretty tasty. 
Parking place, swimming pool, and comfy beds. 
Their pricing was more than reasonable for what they offered.
Definitely family-friendly. 

The only problem is that you must climb down a floor from the entrance to the reception. This is pretty common in Ella.
