The hotel is very clean. The staff is realy nice and helpfull. Great breakfast! We came for one night and stayed for a full week because it was so comfortable. Its a little bit far from the main road, but the street is nice for walking and its worth the distance.

Mirissa  beach can be a bit loud so we wanted to stay off the main drag.  Q1 is a 10 min walk to the beach and very quiet. We had the family room with a fridge and small kitchen which was nice since we were there 4 days. The staff are friendly and available and the hotel is very near the port where the whale watching boats leave so it is convenient for that.  Breakfast changes every day which is a rare thing in other places we have stayed in Sri Lanka. We had no complaints!

As a couple that has travelled all over and stayed in many, many hotels. This has been one of our favourites. 
Lovely staff who really care about ensuring you have a good stay and are very helpful help with advice of the area. 
Perfectly cleaned rooms
One of the best breakfasts we’ve had in Asia. Different everyday! 
Extremely comfy beds. 
Great location, right next to the Whale Watching port, a beautiful beach and restaurants. 
Did not have one bad word to say!

Excellent Hotel

The hotel itself was fine - nothing special but quite decent value for money. What we were particularly unhappy about was an episode with the staff. So we asked them to book a tuk tuk (trishaw) to Tangalle and one of the staff members volunteered to take us because he said it was low season and he wanted to make some extra money. 

So we agreed on the price of 2,500 rupees to get to Tangalle. The distance from the hotel to Tangalle center was about 48km. When we got there we realized that the hotel I needed to go to was 5km from the city center. So the driver was not happy about it - I said that's fair enough - I will give you the additional fare for the extra 5km and a bit extra. So I offered him 3,000 rupees which included a bit of a tip as well because a 5km trip in Sri Lanka would cost no more than 200 rupees on a tuk tuk. But he wanted more and asked for 3,500 rupees. He kept saying rubbish like it should have been 3,500 because this place was not in the center of Tangalle. How he concluded that 5km extra should cost 1,000 rupees whereas the original trip of 48km was only 2,500 rupees was beyond me. 

So he threatened to take us to the police etc - we knew it was bull but to avoid trouble we paid him 3,300 rupees anyway but it left a very bad taste for us. Most Sri Lankans were lovely but not this man. So there you have it - a bad staff could really ruin a hotel's experience.
