Mihiri Beach House

We stayed at Mihiri Beach House for 5 days in February, 2018 with our friends. When we entered the beach house, we all remarked that it looked even better in person than it looked in the photos. The beach house is very colorful, full of quirky and interesting artwork, and beautiful furniture. The communal space is very inviting. The property is incredibly well maintained. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There are two guest rooms in the main house and two rooms in the pool house, which provides a lot of privacy for guests. The pool and grounds are immaculate. Our only minor complaint would be that there are no stairs leading from the property to the beach. Rather there is a ladder that is quite challenging for the elderly and children to manage. We did hear that they will be putting in a new staircase – which will be a welcome addition. The beach house is located minutes from Unawatuna and Galle Fort. You can also wander down the beach and grab a drink while watching the sunset. Keep an eye out for sea turtles who seem to enjoy grazing in this area just before sunset. The Mihiri Beach House staff are incredibly attentive (which includes a security guard who is on duty all night). No request is denied. They constantly checked to make sure we were all comfortable and happy. The staff were also kind to our 2-year old guest; playing ball with him. The food is very tasty. They have a beach house menu and you can choose items from their menu or you can make special requests, which they are happy to accommodate. We definitely recommend the egg hoppers and curries (but request that they be spicy or you will find that they are quite mild). We would also recommend a barbeque. Definitely consider the tiger prawns.
