I paid a little over my (very low) budget for a single room at Sol and it was worth every penny. Breakfast was filling, good coffee was always available, and the bathrooms were absolutely impeccable--and that's usually the downside of most hostels. I had space to spread out, a full bed to sleep on, and all I had to do was walk downstairs to be in Madrid's bustling Puerta del Sol. I'd recommend it to anyone willing to go 5 or 10 euro over budget. Worth every penny.
