Danim is a small apartment packed with bunk beds, leaving virtually no space for bags, especially if you are the last guest in the room (I stayed in the 6-bed female dorm, with a very small window, and it was boiling in there). 
I checked in with a guest, and I never saw the owners. Parties seem frequent, and the night I was there it was led by a loud and obnoxious guest. I didn't feel comfortable and I was glad to leave the next day. I would have liked to ask the easiest way to go to Haeinsa temple, but couldn't find anybody from the staff up at 9 AM. 
If you want to drink soju all night with people from all around the world, this is your place. If you want to refuel between two busy days, just skip it.

Disappointing

I was not very impressed with this hostel. We got there about noon (hostel webside said you could check-in ealier then 1 if room was ready) and when we got there the staff was still sleeping in their room. Once we found someone, she tried to find our reservation and told us we were at the wrong hostel. I calmly explained that I booked this hostel through hostelbookers and they sent me directions to that hostel. They (other "staff" members) puttered around discussing what to do. We heard some of them say they didn't work there yet they all came out of the staff room and were all trying to figure out the reservation. They kept saying they should all their boss but no one seemed to want to. They finally called and confirmed that we were indeed at the correct hostel. Then we had problems with the room. We booked 5 beds in the 6 bed mixed dorm because we had a male friend with us 4 girls. They proceeded to tell us that 3 of us would be in the mixed bad and 2 in the female dorm. I again, calmly explained that we booked 5 beds in the 6 bed. We were then told that they already had 3 beds booked in the mixed. They apologized profusely and there wasn't much we could do besides deal with it because this company owns the other hostels in Daegu. We checked-in and left. We came back later and were told we could all move back into the 6 bed mix. We were happier with the hostel and moved back into the original room we booked. While we were hanging out in our room someone opened the door and just stared at us. He shut the door and left so we locked it. There was a knock on the door and a foreign woman said she was a staff member and was extremely rude with us. She demanded to know who told us we could move back into the room and was angry when we couldn't give her a name of the staff member. The extra person in the room was a staff member or friend of the staff. We think that we were originally told we couldn't all stay in the room so staff members or friends of the staff could stay in there.

Overall I was just not impressed with the hostel. The hostel itself is in a great location, close to the central subway and downtown. The beds are comfortable and there are 2 showers. The Korean staff that tried to help us when we checked-in were very nice but the foreign woman was not. I think our problems were more with how they overbooked and lost our reservation. I honestly would rather pay the extra money and stay at a love motel if I go back.

Not impressed! Some helpful staff and some extremely rude staff!

Yes this is one of the only backpackers, but you are far better off staying at one of the nice and clean guethouses in town for a similar price. I estimated almost 18 people slept in the tiny appartment on the night we were there (including someone on the living room sofa!). Partying did not stop until 3am, and there a new guest joined us at 4am. Very bad night and a total rip-off.

No sleep and a lot of money gone!

I did not care for this hostel whatsoever. While the staff was friendly, it seemed more just wanting to make friends/hang out then serve its customers.  The hot water in the shower basically did not work while I was there (it did, but the pressure of the water decreased as you turned up the heat, to the point that the rate evasively did not come out at all). Was invited to a New Year party that lasted all month upon my arrival 3 January... said parties woke me up pretty regularly the two nights I was there. Having better rest would have likely made my time in Daegu more enjoyable. 

Maybe I'm just too conservative for this place... I would not recommend it regardless.

Terrible Experience

Stayed one night and it was one too many. Filthy place and not worth the money. You pay 20$ and have to make ur bed with cloth that is dirty and too small for bed. Furniture, bathroom and kitchen are dirty and smelly,the door is open 24hr for anyone!
Find another place to stay....
